I don’t care how many “Company” cast albums have been released — I have them all— we need a 2022 cast album to mark this incredible revival and it’s superb cast. Does anyone have any news about whether they will record it?

Nope. And a close friend is in the show. Even he has zero info if they will have a cast recording. They all want one, obviously… including LuPone. But zero has been hinted at.
As much as I would love for there to be one, if it hasn't happened or at least been announced yet, I sadly doubt it'll happen

My immense hope was destroyed a millisecond later when I saw that question mark.
Trust me, the moment the cast gets word, I’ll post the confirmation. He knows to text me the instant he gets word.
Assuming this wins Best Revival, it will be the first Best Revival winner without a cast album since LA CAGE in 2005. (Same would be true if MUSIC MAN wins, though I have a feeling that eventually gets an album.)

Can we start a Go Fund Me for it? I'm ready to donate, this is ridiculous.
I just think we would’ve heard something by now.
if they don’t record this it will be the most disappointing lack of a recording since Shuffle Along or The Apple Tree

Agreed! This cast is broadway royalty bringing their A-game every night. Its soooo damn good. But from a producers stand point there isn’t much of a point. Cast albums cost a lot and typically don’t return on the investment. Add to that, there is already a recording of this version.
I'm not losing hope yet. I remember the 2017 SITPWG cast album was recording and released after the revival closed.

I don’t want to have a recording of Lenk murdering the score Thankyou.
I'm sure we can reason with the CRM (Cast Recording Mafia) to go easy on you, so you aren't forced to purchase it.
Any and all hope I have for a cast album is fading fast... it seems like if they were going to do/announce a cast album, they would have done so by now (eschpeially in the last couple of weeks with the Tony nominations and all).

Is this necessary on every Company thread? Clearly many people don't agree with you and want a recording. She does more justice for this music than anyone I've ever heard do it (and that's a lot). She sounds amazing. Also, did you know that even if they make the recording, absolutely nobody is going to force you to sit there and listen to it? Thankyou.

Where do we have this recorded? The London cast is NOT the same (except for Patti). We NEED Matt Doyle's Getting Married Today ! From what I have heard the orchestrations are different on most of the score. Say what you will, but I enjoyed Katrina so I would buy a US Broadway cast recording.

Yes, I need Matt Doyle’s last high note on Getting Married Today. This cast as a whole was just so much better sounding than the London one, it’ll be such an enormous crime if they don’t record.

Feel free not to buy one.
Of course the cast is sensational, but this is also the last time Sondheim really tinkered with the lyrics of a production before his death. It just needs to be recorded!

I'm still holding out hope, but I'm getting a bit discouraged by the lack of announcement. It would be such a shame to not have this beautiful production recorded. I would love to have Lenk's performance available to listen to, along with the other terrific performances. Hopefully we'll get some good news soon!
When Company wins best revival - hopefully it will then happen!

That's what happened with Anything Goes after it won Best Revival in 2011. Fingers crossed! I want this so much. And yes,I like Katrina Lenk--along with her castmates.

I personally think COMPANY may win Best Revival, but that's a tough category if I'm being honest.
The MUSIC MAN is a terribly blah production, but folks are still running to the theater + the star power might sway voters, cause nothing else about that show is appealing.
I hate I didn't see CAROLINE, but I heard wonderful things. With that said, I also heard disappointment is the feel of this production. Wish I saw for myself.
So, outside of the Katrina critiques, my and others' impressions of the show have been great. Ms. Lenk's weak performance can't possibly take down the entire production, can it?
With all that said, if I was the producer and we had the cash, with a good chance of winning the Tony + Sondhiem passing and increased interest in him, I would record the Broadway cast album. I think this is wise.
Also, unless the principals transfer with the show to Broadway (like PHANTOM), I just believe you have it in your budget to record the cast. Even if it's a live thing, like SIX. (Thought that was a super smart idea/solution btw.)

The combined factors that everyone perceives this as a quality production, in some senses a spectacular reinvention AND it is the last revival to have Sondheim's input (almost bringing his career full circle, as the original production of Company marked the arrival of Sondheim in his full maturity as composer/lyricist on Broadway) clinches it as the Tony winner. I can't imagine The Music Man being a serious challenger in any way.
