i got the young Sondheim one. After the show I tried to see if I can pick up someone’s left over. But it seems like all I saw were the same version .
Wondering did they start to give out ONE version at one performance. I know at least last week, diff versions were given out in a single performance?"
This is my understanding, that they are reserving certain ones for specific performances. I’m seeing the show tonight. I’ll try to grab a bunch. Maybe we can start an exchange program.

very curious to know which one they will give you tonight : )

Thank you! I’ll grab all I can

I know we're still hoping for a cast album, but is there any possibility of a live video recording of this production? This is the ultimate production that needs to live on in video.

Probably too expensive. The reason most show recordings are done in the West End is because it is more cost effective. I wouldn’t be surprised if the current My Fair Lady is filmed for this very reason.

Why is it more cost effective in the West End? (genuinely asking, not meaning to be snarky)

The show was absolutely superb tonight. I enjoyed Heath Saunders even more than Conte as PJ, to be honest. I think his choices fit the song better. He punches the correct words seems a little spaced out while still being thoroughly believable singing the song, which is so important. I never believe Conte is quite wise enough to make those observations in the song, if that makes sense.
I still like Conte though.
Katrina absolutely kicked ASS tonight. I am absolutely blown away by her. I don’t know how anyone could see her current performance and feel differently.
Anyway, I managed to grab three extra copies of tonight’s Playbill - it’s the Hirschfeld of Sondheim.
I would be very happy to exchange a copy of two of these for the two other limited editions from this month. We can mail each other what we need and avoid spending unnecessary extra money.
PM me if interested. I’d love to have all three!

Pardon my naïveté here - there’s probably something I’m missing - but we’ve already gotten really great clips lifted from the show for promotional purposes.
They really can’t film - and therefore preserve - a performance in its entirety?

I'm planning on going on Saturday night and hoping to see Saunders (not sure if that is quite after the 10 day quarantine). I will also let you know which playbill I get and would be happy to trade if they are different.

Conte has COVID, as explained late on page 33 of this thread, and he should be back at some point next week. Heath Saunders has been on for PJ in his absence.

I saw the show again tonight and it was just as good as the first time! Totally random question, did this production had a rain/water at some point during one of Bobbie’s solo songs?!!
I remember rain when I first saw it, but it didn’t happen tonight… curious if I’m misremembering or they changed it?
They did had a technical malfunction before “getting married today” and had to pause the show briefly.

Thank you!! Sad to hear it though, it was beautiful!
Saw the show again last night (for the 5th time) and it was in lovely form. I loved Heath Saunders as PJ. He played it a little softer and very different from Conte. I really enjoyed it. His voice didn't seem as fatigued either (I'm sure from not singing that song 8 shows a week). That was the only understudy we had.
Katrina was absolutely amazing last night and I will never understand the lack of Tony nom or detractors. Patti was doing the absolute MOST. Way more over the top than usual and she held the last riiiiiiise FOREVER.
We got the Hirschfeld Sondheim playbill and I got a couple extra if anyone would like to trade for any of the others.

Anyone else going to the 92Y tonight for the documentary screening and talk with Katrina and Patti? We'll be there! Annoyed that it was going to be a ticketed event, now it's general admission, but tickets I think are still available for the in-person with screening and virtual (talkback only).

Currently reading her memoir, and didn't realize there was an audiobook. Does Patti narrate it herself? If so, I'll definitely purchase it to listen to while reading!

Yes, she does, but if you think that's something, you should really search this site and check out all the amazing videos of Randy Rainbow lip-syncing to Patti's readings
The Great Performances documentary we saw tonight at 92Y, which is premiering this weekend on PBS, was just wonderful. While no full numbers, there's lots of footage of the current production, along with footage of the 2006 and 1995 performances, along with great interviews with Patti, Katrina, Marianne, various members of the cast, along with Michael Riedel, Cynthia Nixon, Lin-Manuel (of course) and others. It covers the production leading up to the shutdown, coming back, along with an extensive look back at the original production, including footage from the production and the city at the time, and new interviews with Donna McKechnie, Barbara Barrie, and Pamela Myers. It briefly covers Sondheim's passing, mostly through Lin, but otherwise the mood is fun and inspiring.
The talkback with Katrina, Patti, and Marianne was a lot of fun. Katrina was reverential to the other two ladies, didn't say that much - mainly because the moderator was trying various ways to discuss her vulnerability in playing Bobbi, which she wasn't having - while Patti and Marianne were really quite giving. Patti discussed at length about modern sound mixing in Broadway theatres, how flat and disconnected it can sound - AMEN! - and how she talks to the sound mixers to work and find the sweet spots where she's softest and loudest, so the audience can lean in instead of be pushed back by the sound. She also had great anecdotes about her husband and Stephen. Marianne really gave the most, discussing her process, her life, and a lot about the creative process with Stephen and the cast, and how they worked in previews, and then about coming back when Broadway reopened. I could watch a one-woman show just on Marianne! All in all, a great night.
