It's not really news? Marc Platt announced he was producing it back in 2018, but a Director still hasn't been announced.

Stephen Daldry would be perfect to direct this. Or is he still attached to WICKED?

So we are suppose to believe Platt is 18?
There are still going to be white actors acting.

The article also says Ben Platt is going to reprise his role, and I hope not. He was great in the role on stage, but by the time this film is made, he’s going to be almost 30.
Platt aged out of the role before it hit broadway so that’ll be interesting. He’ll look like Fyvush Finkel by the time they start filming.
90210...Glee...pretty much every high school show ever has had some people 25+.
And Taylor Trensch is 31, so I guess he aged out of the role six years before he got it. 😆
Predictable. Ben will probably have them cast beanie as Alana too.

Just released production still from Waving Through A Window:
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Waving through a nursing home window
Ben was perfectly cast and looked the part. He was 23 years old and due to his weight loss, looked every bit like the sad, depressed teenager he portrayed.

Nah. There will never be a white Alana again.
They could easily deage Ben Platt a bit on film. It wouldn't take much. He just played a high school senior in The Politician, but I wouldn't be surprised if the part goes to someone younger either.

"Why does he have to wave through a window? Why can't the schmuck call like a normal person?"
I would only be interested in Rachel Bay Jones reprising her role for the film.
I’ll be sure to alert the production team.

It’s not about his actual age, he just doesn’t look like a 18 year old. You can get away with it on stage, but with closeups and whatnot, eh, I think it’s gonna lose the message having a 30 year old being whiny.
I was hopeful the "on ice" version would happen first.

You can also get away with it just fine in film. If they can de-age Robert De Niro 50 years....pretty sure you can do 10 for Ben.
And casting Kaitlyn Dever as Zoe is (shockingly) not racism.
Unless he’s visibly, noticeably aged since the Politician, he can still pass, in my opinion. They just need to hurry. Without Platt, there’s not much reason to rush this into production.

You do realize that the role was originated by a white actress, right?
Since there’s also discussion of Ben Platt’s age, I believe that he still looks young enough. And even if they have to make him look a bit younger than he actually is, his performance is still so strong, I’m fine with that.

I sure do, but what does that have to do with anything?
