Whatever big name the producers have lined-up for the Fall better come through, otherwise the show will close by Labor Day with Buckley.

what about Ms Barbra Streisand as Dolly. she did the movie when she was too young .Now is her chance to do it at a more appropriate age. They could pay her !50000 -200000 plus a gross percentage per week a la Bette Midler and have Beth Leavel or Klea Blackhurst as her alternate.
Now.. if she doesn't break a hip or need rehab .. what about Liza Minelli?
Again it ain't gonna happen but wouldn't it be loverly?
Agree with Beanie Feldstein and Kate Baldwin hard to replace. They are/were doing a stellar job.
I forgot all about her stage turn in Threepenny Opera - thanks for the reminder! Well, l’d love to see her entrance on the streetcar and - of course - the eating scene!
Lucie Arnaz would be good but she wouldn’t sell well, I don’t think?
I too think Alison Janney would be great.
Melissa McCarthy, could potentially be fabulous but I can’t imagine anyone of her stature, every replacing. But as a total dream punt, I can imagine her in the role. If they could get someone like this, they’d be laughing.
Vanessa Williams.
Jane Krakowsi
Totally left field, I can imagine Lisa Kudrow in the part.
Goldie Hawn, would be utterly wonderful. And she’s at a point in her life, when she just might do it...
There are many wonderful actors working in Musical Theatre, who would be sensational but aren’t going to get anywhere near it, of course. And understandbley.
Betty Buckley is a very, very strange choice. She’s as cold as ice and funny, she ain’t.
Melissa McCarthy would be phenomenal, but I don't know what her movie shooting schedule would look like. Not sure she'd object to being a replacement in a role originated by Bette Midler, but I also don't know that she has a Broadway interest either.
Can Lisa Kudrow sing? Because I can sort of see her in the book parts, but I don't know what her voice is like.
OuttaTowner said: "How’s about Cyndi as Dolly, with John O’Hurley as her Horace? She’s 64 and he’s 63."
I like it. It'd be a different Horace, I think, because I've always thought John O'Hurley did a great job at being (appropriately) over the top, compared to what I'm guessing is a more sensitive portrayal by Garber.
This thread is really making me want it to be Cyndi now, even though I doubt it could happen lol.
