Beau and Mexiodus are nowhere on the same level, bizarre

Mexodus is next level brilliant and deserves all the praise it's been given.

Beau.....is a show in New York City that exists.

Was KENREX eligible for Best Play? I feel that should have replaced something else up there.

I feel like in the past the Outstanding Solo Performance nominees are typically not eligible for Best Play.

A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

The male lead nominees for musical being basically present here and at the OCC awards is something, the female counterparts otherwise...

Maria-Christina Oliveras getting nominated for The Balusters over Marylouise Burke or Margaret Colin is insane.

Not Lear deBessonet winning all 3 direction awards even one against Cats. Omg, can she win the Tony?

Ben Levi Ross Also won here!

I really hope not…where was the direction of Ragtime, because I couldn’t see any

As the sole female nominee in her category, I'm rooting for her!  And Ben was incredible in the show. Loving the love for Ragtime 💕

I feel like the Drama Desk is copying a cue from the Oscar precursors where instead of these movie guilds/critics rewarding breakthrough performances they tend to try to give them to people who they think will win the Academy.  I mean the winners list look like Tony predictions! I think the four leads for Musical and Plays would mirror the Tony’s and so are most of the technical awards.  And I know I’m in the minority but I do like most of their choices.

I was there tonight and I have to say: nobody got a bigger audience response than Qween Jean, who gave an absolute barn burner of an acceptance speech and looked phenomenal doing it. The Tonys aren’t ready

Exactly.   There is very little.   Just ask the actors.   Ragtime is a good show - the direction in this production is. not. at. all.

Two Strangers winning Outstanding Lyrics must be a joke.

OMG ME TOO! I actually came straight from Jellicle Ball (RUNWAY SEATS!). When her, Nikiya, Arturo, and Omari won and Andre was honored, I was effusive! I had my fan still and was clacking it joyously.

Qween Jean deserves the world. Even more was the fact that, from my vantage point, the audience was so loud when they heard her first name called that it was impossible to hear which show she actually won for (as she was also nominated for SATURDAY CHURCH)

I don't think Paul Tazewell actually said what she won for, just that she won. She did win for Jellicle, though.

It was very sweet to learn that Tazewell is the one who interviewed and accepted her into NYU. A nice full-circle moment to have both of them win last night (and one that could very well be repeated on the Tonys).

For someone who has had stratospheric success as a costume designer in recent years after a long string of steady work, Tazewell is one of the kindest folks I’ve ever met.

I feel like the industry love she's getting is massive. I don't just think she's a front runner, she's a lock for Costume Design of a Musical, and I cannot wait for her TONY speech.

Yes. And it also makes me sad that Nikiya Mathis isn’t considered alongside her for the hair and wig design. Her work on evolving André ALONE deserves a Tony. I wish all three of his curtain call wigs stayed and went in rotation and he got to pick whatever wig he was feeling that night - Space Oddity, Laid For The Gods, or The Mauve Mane

and this is exactly why the TONYs need to create a new category honoring makeup hair and wig design.
