The sound was also an issue. I was in row F and the orchestra was over powering at points and I couldn't understand what anyone was singing. Like I said the show is OK and I really like the use of the LED panels, especially how many configurations they can make.
For a show that looks so technically challenging the set didn't have any issues I saw. Those panels are always moving.

Saw the show tonight. Da'Vine was in the show and she was one of few highlights in this show for me. Clearly she's still recovering from whatever happened and when she has to sing she looks terribly nervous. It takes away a bit because she seems so inside of her head. All of "I'm Outta Here" she looked extremely uncomfortable. The visual effects are stunning but other than that the shows very bland. Caissie Levy and Richard Fleshman sound lovely but their performances were completely forgettable. The score has a few diamonds in the rough but overall it's boring. The book isn't very cohesive, and scenes/events just happen and you don't understand why. The ensemble seemed very messy. There was multiple times where they were blatantly out of synch with one another. The projections looked gorgeous but they were overused. I know this review is all over the place, but the bottom line is, I was extremely disappointed.
Sad to hear that Da'Vine is still not comfortable with "I'm Outta Here". Must be all those moving suitcases on stage...
And as of today, I still must admit that the BEST and most tightened ensemble dancing I have seen in years is the ensemble in last year's CATCH ME IF YOU CAN.
I agree, Catch Me was very synched. The Newsies also have a great cohesiveness and are so right on with the choreo.
Caught the show Saturday night- I had extremely low expectations which worked to my advantage; I didn't mind the show.
I honestly was hoping to catch Moya (after her amazing performance in Dreamgirls), but Da'Vine was on. She stole the show and got several mid-scene applause.
Alas, Da'Vine was divine (I've been dying to do that pun since the casting was announced).
The first twenty minutes of the show is sheer torture, but it is salvageable, if they utilize the rest of previews.
Anyone know if she has been in lately?
I heard she and Raven-Symone met for breakfast this morning.
She was in last night, and *easily* walked away with the show. Not that it's a hard thing to do considering the material.

She was in the matinee today.
Didnt want to have to start a new thread so..
Moya went on half way through the matinee today according to her facebook page. Carly Hughes is on tonight. Anyone going to be there?

I say the matinee today 7/21/12 and Da Vine Joy Randolph left before act 2! There was announcement before act 2 that said Moya Angela will be going on! At the stage door Moya told some lady the Da Vine left due to her voice being bad or sick and not up to continue through act 2!
