Say something!

Put a photo!

Crap, it didn't work. If you copy and paste it...yeah, that's dashing, haha.

The best part about Brian is his HAIR...

re: Dangerous Drought of Dashing Men on Broadway

Ah! He sang that magnificent Frederick Barrett the Stoker role in Titanic and that "The Proposal" part of "The Proposal/The Night is Alive" which is my favorite song of that OBCR!

And he was in The Lieutenant of Inishmore (which really deserved to win the Best Play Tony as did Wilson Milam deserve to win Best Director Tony).

The man has an incredible voice!

Get him in a musical where he can dash about (does he dance?--I hope so) and fight pirates on a ship or something--does he swordfight?

Wow, maybe now I'll finally have to go and see DRS. Does he get to sing something really nice in it--a solo I hope?

re: Dangerous Drought of Dashing Men on Broadway

I love Eric McCormmack more than most people should, but when I see him doing those Lifetime commercials for the sitcom he produces ("LoveSpring Intl") and Eric makes jokes about how he wants all the ladies, I just find it disturbing. Yes, he's married in real life and has kids, but the fact of the matter is, Eric = Will Truman, our loverly non-threatening homo who will always be there for us when we come back from a lousy date.

He's dashing, nonetheless.

But a lot of who people have been mentioning are cute guys, but not "dashing." Mano...?? Cute? Yessir. Dashing??? Hell no. The boys from the Bee as dashing?? I hope this is a joke.

I stand by my choices of Michael and Eric!!
Question: Will Esparza win for The Homecoming? BobbyBubby: I hope so. If only for the mental health of many people on this board.

Chrys, I was wondering how long till you would pop in here re: Dangerous Drought of Dashing Men on Broadway
"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli

Don't forget about Aaron Lazar!!!

Well, Aaron is playing the revolutionary type in the upcoming Les Mis, right? Seems a perfect match for the intellectual in him... Someone hit the casting on the mark.

re: Dangerous Drought of Dashing Men on Broadway

Dashing can be in the eye of the beholder. Further, not all parts for leading men require a dashing quality. Tarzan is definitely not a role written for a "dashing" personality. The role Troy Britton Johnson plays in The Drowsy Chaperone specifically lampoons the one-dimensional dashing roles of yesteryear. The lead role of The Wedding Singer is also not a dashing role nor should it be. To dismiss the actors who play these parts as not "dashing" and by extension somehow lacking in appeal is a bit unfair as the particular roles specifically are not written to be dashing and, in some cases, require the exact opposite.

Also, the lack of dash attributed to some of these Broadway actors should by no means reflect on their abilities to provide strong performances in their roles. There seems to be some confusion that not having a dashing personality somehow translates into being an inferior actor. Not necessarily true. All one has to do is remember that Errol Flynn and Tyrone Power are considered prime examples of dashing personalities and neither was ever regarded as a particularly outstanding actor.

I love this thread...it is very interesting to me to see how other peoples taste run. Beauty is definitley in the eye of the beholder. To me 'dashing' would be Cheyenne Jackson, Brian Stokes-Mitchell,Josh Strickland, Michael Ball(cute dashing)and Hugh Panaro. When Tony Vincent was doing JCS he was quite dashing to look at!! LOL My dream is to see Joey Calveri(We Will Rock You ..Vegas) on broadway because for me he has everyone beat in the dashing department!!
I have RSD...but it doesn't have me!!!!

Whoever started this thread did see Jersey Boys, enjoyed it, too.

No lack of looks or talent there.

But they don't really get to run around or do swordfights or fancy fight footwork in that show while they're boy-banding.

Dashing men need to dash!

Yes, and dammit!

He's MIA!

Where the hell are the producers and shows to get that curly-haired creature back a-fleeted foot afore the footlights?

I actually thought all three of PIAZZA's Fabrizios (Fabrizii?) were pretty dashing in their various ways, though I liked David Burnham best.

Also, both Drew Sarich and Robert Cuccioli are called upon to be dashing by some songs in JACQUES BREL, and both do just fine, I think.

One would have to bite him to tell you whether or not he truly is delicious.

It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it.

I volunteer.
