Hey, hey, hey.

Baby pics are the other thread, and no newbie babes.

MOXIE, you better stay incognito or you may scare the men so much with that post they'll be dashing in the other direction!

Hasn't been a problem so far, NDP. :)

I'm sure both Manoel and Michael love the attention. Why, I bet they've already heard about what's been said in this thread and are giggling. Well, Mano is giggling. Michael is smirking and rubbing his chin.

I prefer the quirky-cute (Norbert Butz, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Stephen Lynch) types more re: Dangerous Drought of Dashing Men on Broadway But, if Troy Britton Parker (Robert Martin in Drowsy Chaperone) isn't dashing, I don't know who is! As mentioned, Hugh is simply beautiful.

Yeah there is somewhat of a shortage. We lost Gavin to London and Adam (at least he lives in my neighborhood now!!) to LA. At least Raul will be coming back for Company and Will in High Fidelity.

I still have my current favorites: John Lloyd Young and Barret Foa

"Anyone know the news on Drew's new baby?

(If Beth really isn't pregnant, then I'm such an ass! Because she looked pregnant when I met her in San Francisco.)"

You mean Jim Stanek's wife, not Drew's.

The Stanek's baby was born May 27.

Is the question a lack of dashing actors or a lack of dashing heroic roles?

Which currently-running musicals have a dashing, Errol Flynn type as the hero, really? It seems to me that actors "dash" when the part calls for it; they can't really be dashing without a dashing role to play, can they? Are there many such characters not being played properly? I certainly don't see Sweeney Todd as dashing (though Antony can be in some productions), for instance. I suppose Raoul in PHANTOM qualifies; how is the current Raoul dash-wise? But Raoul -- not exactly a recently-minted character -- is the exception rather than the rule, isn't he? There are even parodies of "dashing" in DROWSY CHAPERONE and SPAMALOT, which suggests an audience willingness to make fun of the idea.

Maybe in the current moment, where most of the popular shows either make fun of dashing leading men or else dispense with them entirely (SPELLING BEE, anyone?), leading men don't get much chance to be debonair. I'm sure any number of them could rise to the occasion in the proper roles, though.

Wonderful contribution, Tirso de Molina!

We so need more dashing male roles!

I mean Hugh Panaro looked ready to dash but how could he in a standaround androgynous vampire role in Lestat?

I was watching The Skeleton Key a couple months ago and thought the same damn thing...I thought I was the only one...

And back on the subject of cross-dressing...I LOVE IT! Is it wrong to love a man in makeup?

I don't know if they'd qualify as 'dashing' as such, but in my opinion Daniel Reichard and Aaron Tveit are two extremely good looking young men on Broadway.

A friend told me I should check this thread out...

*trots in here to defend my knight in shining armour's honor*

Frankly, not everyone is ever gonna find every single man attractive. And I love how Michael always makes himself out as the puppy nobody wanted. Please. I'd take him home... However, that is his act, and it makes people adore him even more for it.

I am so tired of that "he's not conventionally beautiful" bull sh*t.The truth is, Michael is physically attractive to a lot of people. His body certainly fluxuates from role to role, but I don't give a damn. I like him every way. Especially when that way is wearing knee-high boots and a black flowy-cottony-like skirt. (I'm not doing the best job describing that, but trust me...it was HOT.)

And also, you have to understand that Michael being the person that he is, makes him even more beautiful. Because he's so wonderful inside and out. Talented, adventurous, caring, smart, funny, elequent, brave, natural, humble, and down to earth. I could go on and on.... You know what else is great about him? His age. I bet he has no idea he's the actual age he is, and I think that's a big part to why he looks so young.

I will say this, Michael isn't the only talented sexy one in his family. I absolutely fell in love with Todd Cerveris during his performance in Almost, Maine. There was such a sexy scene in that show where he pulls this hat of his wife and just elegantly drops it on the floor. I can't exactly explain what it was like, but it was absolutely thrilling. Then he kissed her. *sighs* So if you get a chance, go see Todd in TWELVE ANGRY MEN when it hits your city.

And yeah, the Cerveris boys are of Italian decent.

As for Raul, well....he is so incredibly sexy. But I wasn't attracted to him til I heard him sing. The passion he has for theatre and art, and history in general is such a turn on. The talent he posesses in one finger is more than most people will ever have in a lifetime.

I love that picture of Michael. And I think that Raul's headshot should settle any debate over whether he qualifies as dashing, even not factoring in his talent.

A spirited defense of certain specified exceptional males!

Have they sufficiently heroic roles enabling them to dance, leap, sing, act and dash about the stage?
