I've really thought so much about this show since I stormed out of the theater last night. I was LIVID that they're charging money for what Trensch does (or doesn't do) on that stage. It's offensive to the entire production.
I think they need to just clean house (minus Jennifer Laura, who's as stunning as she was on Opening Night). I'd love to see Evan and his Mom played by actors of a different race. That would be really interesting. Or just something - ANYTHING - to get a new Evan who has the ability to express emotions needed for this character. If you have tickets to the show, I'd sell them. There's no point in wasting your money right now.

I get where you're coming from. I saw it with Ben 3 times, the last time being his final performance, and, after seeing it with Taylor, I have no desire to see the show ever again.
I know a lot of people who’ve seen the show since Ben left (and before you ask yes they’d all seen the show with Ben in it as well) and they said while the show was different they still liked Taylor’s interpretation of the show and his character. I haven’t seen it with Taylor yet when he was first announced I thought he looked a bit old to be playing this character but I am interested to see the show in September and how I feel about the production after that.
I saw the show two weeks ago for the first time since it was Off-Broadway and really, really loved it, especially Taylor Trensch. I actually preferred Taylor’s vocals to Ben Platt. Maybe Taylor was having an off night when you saw him in it, Jordan?

Oh, MARY! I was there too last night, and so sorry I missed the sight of you "storming out"! Were you the guy with the flowing caftan who was tightly clutching his pearls?? For the record, the show is in EXCELLENT shape. Yes, Taylor's performance is much different than Ben's and the singing isn't as effortless --- but it's a wonderfully acted performance, and the rest of the cast (especially the newcomers) all bring fresh and different takes on the show and their characters. Sorry you ate some bad clams or something before the show and had a negative experience. Cheers!
I highly doubt what I saw could be described as an “off night”. That phrase is in heavy use to justify awful performances. If an actor is good in a role, even an “off night” will still showcase their talents. I could see how Rachel maybe was having an “off night” last night since her voice is in pretty weak shape right now and she’s onviously ready to leave, but you could still see how wonderful she is and why she was so praised.

No. The show is not in excellent shape. But I’m glad you enjoyed it.
What an age gap between Mallory and Taylor.... Wonder when we’ll learn about Rachel’s replacement.

...huh? Who are Rachel and Taylor???"
I don't know man, Taylor is currently dating 20 year old Ben Levi Ross (in my profile photo actually). As for Rachel's replacement, nobody knows for sure. Rachel currently is Heidi Hansen on Broadway

Subtle plug, I'm guessing?
Also, I feel really dumb right now! Taylor and Rachel are Taylor Trensch and Rachel Bay Jones. Whoops! Sorry, jorge's millennial garb threw me off! Carry on...
