Deuxmoi - Two TV Sisters Coming to Broadway

I’m trying to even think of TV sisters. The Olsens, the Mowrys, the Deschanels…
unless they mean two unrelated people who play sisters.
-Jeff Bowen's worst onstage line flub.

I have no clue!

Christine Baranski and Cynthia Nixon play sisters on The Gilded Age, I believe.
Hmmmmm.

Can we get Tina Fey and Amy Pohler in something?

The title of that blind item is “Bosom Buddies”, seemingly referencing MAME.

Oh god! A Mame revival! I would kill to see that!

I googled “Bosom Buddies” and apparently it is a TV show from the early 1980’s.

Lol yes but this is obviously referencing MAME.
My God, could you imagine the outrage if they made a “Bosom Buddies” musical?? LOLOLOLOLOL

The outrage would not be good lol.
Who are the twins in the Bosom Buddies TV show?
Is Bosom Buddies a song in Mame?

"Bosom Buddies" is a song in Mame.
Bosom Buddies the TV show is about 2 men who dress up as women to get housing in an all-women's hotel. There are no twins in it, and no sisters, for that matter. The Deuxmoi post was talking about actresses who play sisters on TV, not real-life sisters.

I can't imagine Nixon in either part.
Posted: 11/6/22 at 8:19pm
Debbie Allen and Phylicia Rashad?
Posted: 11/6/22 at 8:24pm
Laurie Metcalfe & Roseanne!

Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin? They would sell tickets, though not sure they would want to do 8 shows a week.
Christine Baranski and Cynthia Nixon is a good guess (though I don't really see Nixon as either role).

Also the more I pondered this the more I realized I simply couldn't come up with any TV sisters...what an odd clue to give.
Anyway, I would think a Mame revival would need "event" type of names in the 2 leads. They could also go two separate ways with the age range (they're really 40s/50s but they could go much older). So separate from any "TV sister" pairings here are names I think producers might pursue for this type of thing, in no particular order: Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Reba McIntyre, Glenn Close, Jane Krakowski, Bebe Neuwirth, Toni Collette, Idina Menzel, Kristin Chenoweth, Christina Applegate, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Laura Benanti. If any of them have a sister in some TV show, chime in! lol

Sadly, we probably won't see Christina Applegate on Broadway. Earlier this week she was in the news, & gave interviews where she said she has lost the ability to walk without a cane as a result of her multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis.

The problem with star-casting MAME is that any lady of notoriety who they might want to cast as Vera probably feels she’s a Mame…even if she is not. Mame is the only great star role.
“bosom buddies” could also be throwing us off.

Watch it be Ann-Marie Duff and Sarah Greene of Apple’s BAD SISTERS starring in a revival of some Irish play.
Posted: 11/6/22 at 10:07pm
Well Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker are sisters in HOCUS POCUS and the sequel was a Disney+ film so technically that is TV, so I’m just gonna hope it’s that.

Who might the EP be? Julian Fellowes? Has he produced on Broadway before?
Posted: 11/6/22 at 10:30pm
Maybe it’s Side Show. Talk about bosom buddies!
Posted: 11/6/22 at 10:57pm
Given the number of "successful TV sisters" currently on TV due to all the streaming shows, perhaps the better clue is the fact that the EP of the TV show will prove the Broadway show Are there current TV producers out there who also produce Broadway?
Posted: 11/6/22 at 11:00pm
Dear God, please don’t let it be a Ryan Murphy show unless it’s gonna be Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon (who “kinda” played sisters in FEUD).
