i couldn't see any disney channel movies becoming a broadway musical except for high school musical but hears my list

sleeping beauty
and why don't they do a juke box musical about walt disney
and if fox ever does a musical of anistasia they need to rework the book alittle bit but other than that the music is wonderful
now i know this isn't disney but why don't they make a musical of the 1994 version of don bluths thumbelina the music in that was totally broadway berry manilows score was teriffic

My number one choice is Hunchback. I just think it would transfer really well to the stage (the sets inside Notre Dame would be breathtaking).

I absolutely LOVE Hunchback of Notre Dame...I was devastated when they closed the live show at MGM. It was fantastic. Also, I would DIE of happiness if they could figure out a way to stage The Nightmare Before Christmas. But it might be too cheesy with the skeletons and whatnot.

Hercules, Nightmare Before Christmas, and I know it was a musical but I think Newsies could do really well if done correctly cause thr storyline is good and the music is kick ass.

aren't they developing a stage version of newsies for ameture and regional theatres what about geppetto that was a fantastic disney tv musical i could see it happening on stage.but it would feature alot of kids and i think kristen chenoweth would be good as the blue fairy.

As a musical theatre teacher in a middle school, I personally love the Disney JUNIORS and KIDS shows. I have done Aladdin, Jr. and Jungle Book Kids and they were great for young performers. I'd love to see Hercules, Jr. because it has SO many roles and it is great to give all kids a chance to have a substantial part.

As far as Broadway goes, and I am a HUGE Broadway fan and an even bigger Disney fan, I think Disney should back out of the Broadway world for a while. It's so corporate and I think a lot of the personalization that is characteristically BROADWAY has been lost due to the commercialism of Disney's impact on the Great White Way.

My favortie shows are West Side Story and Urinetown. They are no where NEAR Disney "magic" or "family friendly," but I love the rawness of the shows and you really need some special performers to pull that off.

Get Disney out of Broadway and get stages back to the way they used to be.

Any of the following I would like to see:
Aladdin, Mulan, Hercules, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Sleeping Beauty, Jungle Book(If Julie Taymor), and Pinocchio....What ever happened to Julie Taymor doing this?

Oh My God! I would love to see a musical version of Parent Trap! I can see it now, the moment when the girls first see each other it could be a whole "What is This Feeling" type song! I wish they would do it!

And i also agree with Bedknobs and Broomsticks!

the junior shows aren't that great i've never seen them but i've heard samples why write them if you could write a full musical and i think kids should get a real opportunity of preforming the real thing instead of a scaled down version
with canned music thats what our middle shool does we never use instument and they always do the full versions of musicals

i read in a article awhile back that they were thinking about doing pinochio after the lion king but they left it alone
becaus of the success the lion king was making this actualy true you can even google this

Well, maybe you need to see a Junior before judging? The sample recordings on the website are just that - samples. And as far as using "canned" music vs. live players, it is very difficult (not to mention EXPENSIVE) to hire live musicians, and as good as our school's band program is, they're just not up to playing a 2 1/2 hour show.

The Juniors give kids an opportunity to perform a full-length show that has been arranged for their voices (remember, 12-14 year old boys have that ever-present "cambiata") and the keys that these songs are in suit every kid almost perfectly!

As an educator and a musical director, I would much rather give the kids a shortened version that they can really sink their teeth into, learn extremely well and in turn give AMAZING performances.

I did do ONE full length show and hired an accompanist. Let me tell you - the pressure for these kids to learn all those lines was too much for some to handle.

I really think the Junior shows are an outstanding resource for middle school students and for middle school directors who may be on a (VERY) limited budget. Yeah, my school gives me a whopping $1000.00 each year. What can I do with that?! I have become a master fundraiser. The Juniors are about $850.00 with all the riders and extra libretti. And they truly allow kids ages 11-14 to be absolutely amazing!

I wasn't implying that I would pay 14 year olds. Many full length shows require advanced ability in regards to the pit orchestra. Yes, I could ask for volunteers, but when someone is volunteering you always run the risk of losing them for a show or two...a paying gig is much more appealing.

And yes, I've heard of Wizard of Oz. No need for the sarcasm.

However, the situation I am in is unique in that I teach a musical theatre class for the entire school year, and the kids in that class get the leads in the show. I like to choose a show with a good number of leading and supporting roles because I double cast - this gives EACH AND EVERY student in my class the chance to have a solo or a lot of scenes and be on stage to gain the experience. I have a very, very positive and popular program. I only take 25 kids a year into the class. So there is a lot of competition just to be in the class. I want to do a successful show...the juniors are great for that.

I'm not knocking full-length productions at all. If I had the means with my budget and setting (our stage has no wing space and no fly space) I could do huge productions. But I've got to keep it real and keep it within the means that I have.

Sorry if you're not keen on this. But if you're in New Jersey in April 2008, come and see one of my productions. I make my middle schoolers look like Broadway performers.

you need to get a grip - theater is a higher art at almost any level, and It's never too early to introducte a child to the joy of theater. I did very small community theater shows when I was little; and they were some of the happiest memories of my life, thus far. My parents were so proud of me. I credit those early years for getting me started in theater, and getting me where I am today. In other words, don't be so quick to judge.
