Bedknobs & Broomsticks is also in the works, as is the Muppet musical (Disney owned).

Bedkobs and Broomsticks sounds wonderful. It's no Mary Poppins but it just might work

Whatever happened to the Stephen Daldry helmed Dumbo ?

Edit: Off the top of my head Disney titles that I think might make for interesting musical adaptations:

Something based off the Documentary Waking Sleeping Beauty

Wreck it Ralph

Moana

The Princess and the Frog

Pete’s Dragon

Hocus Pocus

Return To Oz

The Mighty Ducks

Tom and Huck

The Incredibles

Up

I’ve always said Wreck It Ralph would be amazing. And Hocus Pocus is overdue

The upcoming Tim Burton film version has axed that idea I think.

I would love to know this myself....if you're trying to be tongue in cheek about ITH or something, that's just odd. Love Bug? I love that movie, but something tells me it would meet the same fate as "Chitty" and we all know how that went. Also, reminder that Tangled is on a ship, but who knows if that was a template for a future full length musical. My vote is still Hercules and honestly since neither Schwartz would be involved (I hope...) with it, it might actually have a decent Broadway future. And I'l say it again...."Nightmare" for any of the Parks. It's not..."Great White Way", but this would make a KILLING in any of the Parks, if done right. Taymor anyone?

Hadn't heard this but it's great news. I have been suggesting Bedknobs & Broomsticks in previous threads. I could see Annaleigh Ashford stepping into Angela Lansbury's shows as Eglantine Price.

Actually, I wish they would stop - lol. There will be three Disney Broadways shows running at the same time in a few months and that is enough.

To be fair until Frozen was booked for St James i thought Lion King would close at the Minskoff to make room.

Lion King has been one of the top three grossing shows for 20 years and never offers discounts.  It's attendance rarely drops below 90% and generally has an average ticket price hovering around $150.  Why on earth would Disney close it?  It's basically financing all the other shows they choose to produce.

I loved it, but I’m not too sure how this can be done on the stage. Like the skeletons and all. Loved the music, though. It would be a nice property for lin to adapt, but I know the lopezes were involved with this
"

I think Coco could make for a great stage musical, but can we keep Lin away from this? I love him but the last thing we need is a hip-hop Day of the Dead musical. If anything the Lopezes should stick around or find a Mexican composer/songwriter to help carve out the music. Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday and it would be great to see a Mexican composer/songwriter bring it to Broadway using their own cultural identity.

I kinda thought it would be crazy for two generations of Disney magic to co exist in the Manhattan Theatre district. But you got a point there

Hocus Pocus would be amazing. Someone else mentioned "The Parent Trap," and I would enjoy that as well. I think Toy Story could also do well.

Another one I'd like, but I don't think it's Disney, is "Home Alone."

Maybe Home Alone can be a Live TV Musical first like Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella

Hate to double post but I saw Coco two months ago and I won't mind a stage version as long as done right

The next Disney show in the Broadway pipeline is Hercules, anything else will follow the Newsies/Aladdin/Freaky Friday/Jungle Book/Pinocchio route of being meant outsourced to regional houses to experiment and create viable productions that can be licensed. It they hit it out of the park like Newsies it will be likely be brought to Broadway. If it appears to be "Diamond in the Rough" like Aladdin or Hunchback of Nortre Dame  Disney will try to read the current Broadway landscape to see if market isn't over saturated it will come to Broadway. Otherwise Disney will do what they do with productions that receive a more tepid response like Freaky Friday and simply license it out. If a production doesn't work like Jungle Book or Pinocchio they will simply shelve the show.

The only other show Disney will likey bring/bring back to Broadway anytime soon is The Little Mermaid. Thomas Schumacher has said several times, its his problem child that he isn't willing to give up on. If a regional or international production is able to solve the Climax problem; Ariel simply breaking a shell is not a satisfying climax compared to the film's Ship battle vs Giant Ursula. This made all the more apparent as they already removed Vanessa in favor of "The Contest". He will be willing to give her a second chance.

I’d like to see Taymor tackle Little Mermaid, cause why not?

And technically Aladdin had one regional tryout in Seattle, but the Broadway production is 100% different director and design team.

^Casey was the director of the Seattle run...

the only difference I could tell from the Seattle and Toronto/Bway in the creative team is the set designer. In Seattle it was Anna Louizos, while on broadway it was Bob Crowley.

I don't like making assumptions, but I'm going to assume for a hot second that you aren't quite old enough to remember when FIVE Disney musicals were running all together at one point. It a was short period, maybe a month, but it happened. You can obviously correct me about your age if I'm wrong.

Taymor would have been perfect for Mermaid come to think of it, I don't why I didn't think of it before. However, I don't really want to see it come back. I remember thinking before it even existed how a Mermaid musical would work, and lo a Mermaid musical was announced, but now that it's existed for a while and being done everywhere, I really don't know how this would have worked as perfectly as B and the B or LK did, Taymor or not. Frankly I'd prefer a B and B revival if they did bring one of their stage properties back, but I don't think revivals are what they're in business for. However...isn't/wasn't there a rumor of some gargantuan Orlando production?

Coco I could see working with some creative thought, but being Pixar, I wonder if Disney would consider it at all. That being said, is it just me or are the lines between Pixar and strictly Disney films getting blurry?? Coco is absolutely the most "traditional Disney" type of film, it's an actual MUSICAL which Pixar certainly has never done, that I'm already forgetting it's Pixar. Same with Wreck it Ralph, but the opposite. It's such a Pixar type of film in it's style and storytelling that I forget it's Disney and not Pixar.

Isn't Cirque in Orlando shutting down? Maybe they can use that space to house a brand-new theatrical production? That would be cool!

A Star Wars musical could be so much fun if it was done correctly and carefully (as in light-hearted and fun with a few darker moments in line with the original films). I’m just not sure how they’d even adapt A New Hope? As entertaining as it is to watch in the film, seeing R2 and C-P30 wander around Tatooine forever would be incredibly boring. They’d also need to expand Leia’s role a bit too. But besides a few issues here and there, the technological aspects this show would have would be insane. X-Wings and TIE fighters would make for really cool set pieces, and the creativity for the costumes and makeup would be amazing.

I always thought Princess and the frog and Pochantas would be excellent on the stage.
