The photo I’ve seen from the production had Hercules in a mesh tank top looking like he was heading to a sex dungeon after performing at Broadway Bares. Is this meant to be a family show?

I think you'd be surprised. Yes, it wasn't a huge hit when it came out but that movie, and especially the music, has gained a lot of traction over the years. Obviously not to an Aladdin level but more than you're giving it credit for.

Tbh, if it did I think it'd be coming to Broadway a bit more directly instead of this trip around the world its on. Its giving... they plan to license it but minimal Bway aspirations. Freaky Friday and not Newsies.

Who decided to change Pain and Panic to characters named Bob and Charles? They deserve to be blacklisted from working in this industry. Like why would you think that is a good idea…

I feel like with every Disney show there is a “wow” moment. The flying carpet, rip away dress, pride rock. Is there anything here?

Worth noting that Stephen Carlile is in this after years attached to THE LION KING.

In New York, Gavin Lee will take over for Scar starting July 22.

The cast is great, but I don't think I've ever cared less about what characters were up to in a musical. It lacks the magic of the movie, and the required story propolsion to keep things moving and has no "wow" moments of Disney magic either.

It’s not available as of Friday on streaming platforms. 
 

WOOF. I knew reception to this was poor, but somehow this cast recording still disappointed me with already low expectations. It feels like they recorded this with a band, not an orchestra. The orchestration is SO thin. Usually Disney even pads orchestras for their cast recordings – but evidently not here. The tempos have also been slowed on most of the songs from the movie and it just drags so terribly. 
 

The energy from the film is nowhere to be found in this. As someone who LOVES Hercules and has been waiting for a musical for ages… I can’t believe this is what we got.

For me, it was from the very beginning, the muses explaining who they were as narrators in the style of a girl group. How dumb do they think I am? Just tell me the story.
