Re: Donald Trump Takes Over the Kennedy Center

I am just incredibly saddened by what Trump has done to the Kennedy Center. I've seen many MANY shows there since the eighties and it was always such a magical place to me. All those performance spaces under one roof. All the energy. It was always vibrant with so many things going on. A massive celebration of the arts under one roof on a regular basis. This is just a sad time for us all.

Every time I visited I would seek out John F. Kennedy's quote on the exterior wall that always brought tears to my eyes...

"And I am certain that after the dust of centuries has passed over our cities, we, too, will be remembered not for victories or defeats in battle or in politics, but for our contribution to the human spirit." John F. Kennedy

God bless you President Kennedy.

There are few worse (or at least more annoying) forms of malpractice in the American political media than how they always describe the constant, incessant whining from Trump and other Republicans as "fighting". It makes them sound like they're tough instead of a bunch of petulant losers.

Re: Donald Trump Takes Over the Kennedy Center

I'll never forget the first time I went down to DC and saw a show at the Kennedy Center. The energy and the joy that morosco describes is just palpable. Also, the sight of the Opera House's stunning chandelier is breathtaking in person. There's no place in this country quite like it and it makes me so incredibly sad to see what this orange buffoon has done.

The last time I was there was for Schmigadoon back in February 2025 around when the buffoon took control. I made sure to go up to the roof and take in the view of the Potomac as I knew it would be awhile until I'd see it again. I hope to revisit that view again someday soon - once that buffoon and his fools are long gone.
