If anyone runs across a decent article that outlines the power and accountability that different entities have in relation to KC decisions, please share the link. At minimum, the players are the Board, the staff, the current Congress, and the original charter/enacting documents for the Center. And Trump, of course.

I'm somewhat relieved that Judge Cooper has taken the action that he has, but it doesn't go anywhere far enough. The board is clearly in contempt of his orders repeatedly as well as violating their fiduciary responsibilities as trustees. The judge is well within his right to have the board removed and replaced or impose a monitor. Also, where is DC Mayor Barrows? This isn't the east wing of the White House. This is on city property. She should have police surrounding the building immediately. The judge should issue an order saying any worker who is on site for demolition will be held in contempt and thrown in jail for trespass and fined. If Trump bails them out, arrest them again and again. This abuse of power cannot stand.

Police officers only arrest people or stop illegal acts that break criminal laws. The fight over the Kennedy Center involves building repairs, board votes, and federal property rules. The Center sits on federal property (not city) and was created by an act of Congress. The D.C. Mayor has power over city-level issues (like local roads and municipal services) but has zero legal authority over federal property or any national institutions. That's why Mayor Bowser has never said a thing about it.

Trump is probably too ignorant or uncaring to realize the distinction, but the Kennedy Center is designated as a memorial. It is not just a performing arts center.
He should face as much opposition for threatening to tear it down as he would if he were planning to lay a finger on the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, or any other comparable structures.

Agree. The orange doofus and his associates just announced the 2026 Kennedy Center awards will be on Dec 7, 2026, Pearl Harbor Day. They'll be at Capital One Arena. What a disgrace. I can't imagine how many low level D listers he's considering for honors. Imagine him trying to entice 20,000 people to fill the seats.
