I would say Into The Woods fits both those criteria, to an extent. We're 6 years removed from the movie and 5 from the most recent off-Broadway revival.
Maybe this will be how Chad Kimball gets his groove back. Milky White's his best role to date, given that he's in a full body costume and doesn't say anything.
I had this thought while watching Laura Benanti’s concert this weekend, but assumed we wouldn’t get another major production soon. I think she could be quite the excellent Baker’s Wife. Others that jumped to mind were Carmen Cusack or Jessie Mueller.
Would love to see someone like Hailey Kilgore or Denée Benton as Cinderella.
Audra as The Witch would be perfect.
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
Sarna Lapine will probably direct it. Would love to see Betsy Wolf as the bakers wife, but also saw a suggestion for Carmen Cusack and I think that would also be brilliant. Excited for this to happen!
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.

Well, you know I always have to ask it - any chance they could bring Bernadette back for the Witch?
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
But seriously though, speaking of that concert - Kate Shindle was the single best Bakers Wife I’ve ever seen, besides Gleason. I’ve never seen one actress even come close to nailing the role the way she did. I’d love to see her tackle it again.
