I do love this tele-film and Davis' performance. There was only one mis-step in it for me. They should have continued to let Tammy Blanchard play Judy up until maybe the 1954 period of "A Star is Born" and then let Davis take over from there. Davis looks way too old playing 1940's Judy, especially Judy filming "Meet Me in St. Louis".

I agree.  Judy Davis should have taken over from A STAR IS BORN on.  Blanchard would have looked appropriate for the MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS portion and all of the 1940s period.  We were really stretching ourselves accepting Davis in those MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS sections.

I was able to read an early copy of the script. If executed properly, this could be a great movie. Every character in the screenplay is based on a real-life person involved with Garland at that time. No composites. It reminded me of MY WEEK WITH MARILYN...only fiercer...

While I can see Renee acting the part, i can't see her singing as Garland. She just doesn't have it. What’s equally as frustrating is the fact that Garland’s recordings from that period are technically inferior to even what was state of the art at the time. If they have Renee lip sync to recordings from, say the Carnegie Hall era, they won’t convey the Judy that was 1968...

Somehow, i just hope they get this right.

MichelleCraig, I completely agree with your point about the singing part. It's interesting that they say she will do her own singing.  Good to know about the script being well done.

Especially, in those new photos, does anyone else think Ms. Zellweger looks too "together" for this point in Garland's life? I feel like all the photos I've seen of Judy from this period, she seemed a bit more aged and rough.

Agreed. I don't think they could make Renee look as bad as Garland looked at the time. You can see, in the closeups, that they've aged her...but it's fascinating to note that Renee is 48 and Garland was 46 at the time this movie takes place.

Nope.  Could be late Spring 2019.   

I’m monitoring this film for all the obvious reasons.

Footage was shown recently at the Venice Film Festival and the response was positive.

During that whole Cold Mountain time, I wasn't a fan of Zellweger, but now that it's 2018, I'm surprised at how happy I am to see her working again.

I've always regretted not being able to see END OF THE RAINBOW.  Maybe Zellweger's JUDY will make up for that...fingers crossed!

I found END OF THE RAINBOW entertaining but a bit disconnected.   Lucky enough, this film JUDY is based on the play but they are trimming it a bit and adding factual material into it like including the character of Rosalyn Wilder who was in charge of handling Judy during her run at Talk of the Town.  She wasn’t included in the stage version.

I'm a Zellweger fan and am hoping she proves all of those who are skeptical, wrong.

Tentative release date is September 27, 2019 so it could be months before any teaser trailer pops up.  Footage was shown at the recent Venice Film Festival and the response was across the board positive.
