I had tickets for the July 11 matinee and just got an email from Telecharge that the performance was canceled. Telecharge only selling tickets through 6/28 now. Haven't seen any news stories about it yet though

Gutenberg was a hit as I recall. There were several shows that did well in the 2010s: You're Welcome America, Fences, the Stewart/McKellen double bill, Cripple of Inishmaan, Fish in the Dark

Maybe his giant ego couldn't handle not winning a Tony and talking for six minutes straight on stage about himself? After all, he blew off introducing Ragtime correctly and seemed like a real ass doing so.
The fact that the production won't admit this is over is strange but not surprising.

I still can't get over how many spelling/factual errors there are in the bios on their website:
From Tessa Thompson's: "Thompson has appeared in stage productions of Off-Broadway Smart People (2nd Stage Theatre) and regionally in Blue Skies for Alabama (Pasadena Playhouse)" - for a second, I thought it was a new take on Blues for an Alabama Sky
Ironically, from Ben Thompson's (no relation):
"Ben was most recently seen recurring in the Peacock series, “Long Right River,” following his season 2 recur from his S1 guest star role in the Freeform series, “Single Drunk Female.” - aside from that being one of the weirdest constructed sentences, "Long Bright River" is what they were going for.
I know these are strange callouts...but it bugs me when no one even bothers to make these updates. They take literal seconds to fix.

Sutton is often a harsh and ridiculous poster on this board, but she is right that Adrian Brody often comes off as an absolute insufferable d**chebag. I have thought this for years. I am in agreement on this one.

On Reddit someone is talking about how they had their closing night tickets randomly refunded, called Telecharge to see what's going on, and was told they mistakenly refunded almost 85 ticket orders and couldn't get them their seats back. A Telecharge employee in the comments corroborates that a lot has to go wrong for a bulk refund like that to happen. Me thinks some VIP producers wanted their prime seats back + more money...?

This production was such a disaster. I still can’t believe they never announced that they were closing early and just instead refunded tons of people and changed what day they were closing in the marketing lol
