As someone with an interest in production design and direction who probably won't get to visit Broadway for many years, I really enjoy hearing people talk about their opinions on sets and acting, and I wish people would use the spoiler function more so poor people like me can get their vicarious theater thrills.
I agree Charley Kringas, I'm interested in everything that is involved in a production. Not just the director, choreographers and actors; but the designers as well. Now to get this thread back to normal again, I think that Danny Burstein might have a chance to win his Tony Award but the competition from the talented actors in Hamilton might hurt those chances.
Based on the reviews of Hamilton, this is going to be pretty stiff.
Danny Burstein's performance is getting pretty good early buzz not just on these boards but on Facebook as well, calling him a "front-runner" for the Best Leading Actor in a Musical Tony Award.
Jeffrey Karasarides said: "^If Kelli O'Hara can take down Kristin Chenoweth, I'd say Danny Burstein does have a chance."
Wouldn't be funny and awesome that the leading actors of Bartlett Sher's revivals win the Leading Tony Award 1 year apart from each other. One for O'Hara last year and one for Burstein this year.
^Not to mention the fact that both of them would have received their first Tony nominations for their featured roles in new musicals 10 years earlier to their wins.

Thank you for that Hamilton22, I appreciate it. :)
correct in assuming any actor in HAMILTON will trump fiddler. I read far to many comments on FOTR, but it will not matter. An actor is a close friend and I know the show very well. I will see it 12/8 and I will remember many comments.
I didn't mean to imply that there were parts I wasn't sharing. I only went to this early preview because I was suddenly moved to see the show before my family reunion at Thanksgiving this week.
I meant no criticism, Pal Joey. You are probably my most respected contributor here. This board is a bit touchy and you have to be careful how you phrase things. I wonder how many lurkers here are afraid to post anything.
A stunning production with a brilliant leading performance. It's a long evening of theater but it didn't feel it. Bart Sher is a genius and Danny Burstein's Tony win finally looks like it may come to fruition this season.
It's not flaw-free, but it's truly beautiful. And very moving. I loved it.
I'll start with the fact that I have never seen this show - maybe experts on TV over the years but never a live production.
Danny was excellent as was the entire ensemble but i was totally underwhelmed by the production itself. the set and lighting design was lacking for me - this is a big broadway theater and i think this bare bones simplicity did not serve the material. interesting artistic choices (tevya's dream) but left thinking...meh
did i need to see all those stagehands moving plants?
You lost me at stagehands moving scenery. This is how I felt about Finding Neverland. It just looks cheap. If I'm spending 157, those sets better damn well move themselves.
Fiddler is a great show. But it's not a show I want to pay top dollar for. I think I can go see a regional production and feel just as moved.
I don't mind actors moving scenery in costume especially when it seems so choreographed and seamless as Sher did often in Light in the Piazza but if stage hands are coming out dressed in black wearing head sets I can't see any reason for that on Broadway. Not in a show like this. Put a vest on them or something.
I'm going in with an open mind. I can't even count how many Fiddler productions I have seen so I'm hoping this one is in top form. The stagehand business is already bothering me but we'll see. I'll give a review.
