The show would be rightly dragged to hell for casting a black actress as the lead only to replace her with a white actress. No chance that will happen.

Well anything can happen especially since it's a pre Broadway engagement. I came across this thread a few months ago of a script reading of Devil Wears Prada and it seemed Krystina Alabado was reading for Andy at the time.

Like I said who knows if Taylor Iman Jones will still be apart of the Broadway cast? Casts change all the time as it's a pre Broadway engagement but carry on. :)
Sure. Casts do change all the time and there’s always a chance an actor won’t move continue on with a production (especially with COVID causing such delays), but no show in 2022 is going to endure the controversy of announcing a black lead actress and replacing her, for whatever reason, with a white actress. There was a whole movement for racial equity and parity in theatre since even this casting was announced. If Taylor Iman Jones were not to continue, a POC actress would be cast in her place.

I would hope that a POC actress is casted in the Broadway production. All I said, there's the possibility that the casting could* change. Unless you personally work for the casting department or Broadway Equity, I wouldn't automatically confirm anything. (Since I was just speculating about rumors)
Has anyone heard anything yet about if this is a one act or two act show? Or about possible run time? I know it didn't start actual performances, but earlier in the thread someone mentioned a dress rehearsal people may have attended? I'm trying to see if I can make it from a 2PM matinee of this show down to the St. James for a 5PM performance of American Utopia?!? Thanks!!!
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
Once again taking on the leading roles are Carmen Cusack, Harry Hadden-Paton, and Tony Yazbeck, who will play Clare Boothe Luce, Aldous Huxley, and Cary Grant, respectively. They're joined by fellow originally announced cast members Emily Pynenburg, Michele Ragusa, Robert Sella, Laura Shoop, and Atticus Ware, alongside understudies Aria Braswell, Danny Gardner, Kate Marilley, Patrick Scott McDermott, Tony Roach, and Michael Winther.
Joining the cast for the 2021 run are Kanisha Marie Feliciano and Nehal Joshi, playing roles once taken on by Erika Henningsen and Jeremy Kushnier, who will not be returning to the show.
Why isn't Erika returning ?? Glad a POC is taking her role. Wonder if she followed suit like her friend Ryan Vasquez on leaving the show hoping a person of color would take her place (Pretty sure another white passing Latino took Ryan's place ) During their time in quarantine , Erika and Ryan spent a lot of time volunteering and fundraising for the political candidate I was working for here in PA and both were the sweetest .
Sutton Ross said: "If we knew officially, it would have been been discussed on here. But, unofficially she left for tv and film work. I think she's in Girls5Eva.
The show has an intermission and it's between two and two and a half hours. "
Yes. She played one of the ladies in flashback scenes in Girls5Eva and was oddly the only one recast for those scenes (For some reason, they wanted to make that character older than she actually was ) Would make sense if they are starting to work on S2 now as Sara B just finished Waitress. Maybe more flashback scenes in S2 and she was just basically a cameo character in S1
No more crazy ideas on this thread, folks: after having its originally scheduled first preview cancelled due to the shutdown, Flying Over Sunset begins previews tomorrow night at Lincoln Center’s Vivian Beaumont Theatre, prior to a December 13 official opening. The new musical features music by Tom Kitt, lyrics by Michael Korie, choreography by Michelle Dorrance, and book and direction by James Lapine. The show will play a limited engagement and is currently set to conclude on February 6. Joining the cast are Kanisha Marie Feliciano as Ann Clare Brokaw / Judith and Nehal Joshi as Dr. Harris / Cary Grant’s father, replacing Broadway veterans Erika Henningsen and Jeremy Kushnier.
“1950s Hollywood. You are at a beautiful beach house overlooking the Pacific with Cary Grant, Clare Boothe Luce, and Aldous Huxley… and they are on an acid trip. Together. That is the bold premise of Flying Over Sunset, a new musical written and directed by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner James Lapine. Join three extraordinary people as they take an exhilarating journey into the most colorful corners of the human psyche – delving into their private desires, hopes, and secrets. Carmen Cusack, Harry Hadden-Paton, and Tony Yazbeck lead the cast in this brilliantly imagined story of revelation and connection.”
Received an email from LCT this morning about the lottery:

Seeing it on Saturday the 20th. Doesn't look like it's selling too well, but I'm really looking forward to it.
I've been reading Lapine's memoir of the creation of Sunday in the Park with George, so I'm very curious to see what he's come up with here. And Kitt and Korie are an intriguing duo for the songs.
Just remembering you've had an "and"
When you're back to "or"
Makes the "or" mean more than it did before
I just found a center loge, row c, aisle for $67. It was the only seat priced in that section that low. Although I hope the show is more entertaining than what I saw in the clip, with that price is was only a little more than my alternatives (which I'm not that excited to see either). Only downfall, they charged me $16 in ticket fees.
