Hoping they decide to release an LP sometime too.
Thrilled to hear this! This production was delightful, and the score is so fun.
The album is to be recorded later this month, and a physical LP release is also set for March 28.

We’re actually recording it this weekend ! SO exciting
Had honestly given up hoping for a cast album of this production so this is exciting.

Not sure if we needed another MATTRESS recording, but with a cast like this, it might actually be worth it. Sutton Foster and Michael Urie? Yeah, I’ll probably cave and preorder.
Any updates on this release? The Center Stage Records website still lists the release date as March 28th, but other online retailers now say May 2nd.
I'm really hoping the physicals are just delayed and we will still get it digitally on the previously announced 28th. Probably not, but I don't wanna wait any looongerrrr.

The May 2nd date appears to be for the CD release. Talkin Broadway's Sound Advice email blast, which comes out every Tuesday still lists the digital release for this Friday (3/28) and indicates the CD release date as 5/2. I assume as of today, that information is correct.

Love Sutton's vioce and energy, but not sure the actual score is worth still another cast recording. Would rather have a video of the show instead.
Is the album out digitally where you are, binau and/or CATSNYRevival?
Yes digital release is still 3/28.
Now available to stream, let’s hear those thoughts!

I'm very glad to have this cast recording. The score is such a gem. That said, it doesn't really do much differently than the 1997 cast album, which I personally really like (I'm probably in the minority on this, but I think Sarah Jessica Parker does a great job). Sutton sounds great, but she seems to be holding back on some of the beltier parts. I don't know if that was a choice or if it's that her belt just isn't quite as full and powerful as it was in her Millie/Little Women days.
It sounds...tinny. But the woodwind writing is excellent, especially with only three players.

What I wish for is a cast album for the light in the piazza with Ruthie.
definitely agreed, re: the tinny sound (and not for nothing, but i also love the '97 album and SJP in the role) - overall i'm satisfied with this recording, but most of all just deeply happy we got Sutton's terrific performance preserved. there are some truly unlistenable cast album's i'd describe as tinny, but luckily to me, this is tinny *and* listenable! lol.
I think the orchestrations start out small and then achieve a fuller sound as the album progresses, which I have to assume was intentional. Obviously it's difficult to completely erase the memory of Carol Burnett when listening to this score, but I think Sutton is in a class of her own compared to SJP on the last revival cast album. The only reason I return to that album is to listen to Jane Krakowski's tracks. She seemed to be the only cast member who understood the assignment and delivered the material accordingly, where as this album is full of performers, largely Foster, Breaker, Gasteyer and Urie, who understand the show they're in and are delivering on every front. The album is a joy from start to finish.
