It is cold and windy here in Southern California with on and on rain. It is be interesting to see how this affects the live broadcast.
I saw the first Grease tour back in the early 70's. Jeff Conaway was Danny, Marilu Henner was Marty (she says in her book the role was written for her. Very interesting behind the scenes in her book about the show) and 17 year old John Travolta was Doody.
I still have the souvenir program which has photos of the Broadway and tour production along with some design images. I really do like Shakin' at the High School Hop and wish it was included in the live version.
It's ("RAINING" on prom night) here in LA right now and it's super windy. I wonder how those outside stages will turn out. I'm excited for this but not as excite as when The Wiz live! was coming on. Excitement level for that was a 10, for this a 5-6..

why? if anything you should be more excited. GREASE is not as exciting as THE WIZ but at least they're taking more risks; adding in outside elements, actually using an entire soundstage lot, having a live audience, etc. so much smarter and effective than what they did for THE WIZ. looking forward to it
Is there anywhere I can watch LIVE with the east coast? I don't want to watch the 3 hour delayed version.. (If something goes wrong they edit out for us..sometimes)
From what I have read they prepared for rain as the outdoor sets are equipped with soundproof tarps and lighting. They've literally got this covered...lol

I thought I read that only SOME of the outside settings were covered.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
I subscribe to Apple Music and subscribers have access to the entire soundtrack. I've just added it to my music library. I will give it a listen before it airs.

I am listening to the 1994 revival cast right now (aka the Brooke Shields cast, but Rosie O'Donnell was first) and it's really good. Those Magic Changes and Beauty School Dropout are definitely the highlights.
I truly HATE that 2009 revival...everything about it (except for Laura Osnes) was truly disappointing..inluding that god-awful cast album
@RW3: The 1993 revival cast was decent I own the Rosie O'Donnell version and Brooke Shields version (hell, I own ALL versions of Grease) and I really love Susan Wood as "Sandy" she was just stunning...and had the honor to tell her in person at the stage door.
LMAO.....MINUS points for the editing of lyrics: GREASED LIGHTNING and LOOK AT ME I'M SANDRA DEE are so G-rated they are laughable. The orchestrations and the vocals are great but the lyrics read like they are lifted from the licensed school version of the show form Samuel French.

I LOVE Susan Wood's "Since I don't have you" and "It's raining on prom night" on that recording.
I also love "Sam Haris'" Those Magic Changes.
From the London 93 cast recording I especially love "Mooning" and Debbie Gibson's "Hopelessly devoted" with the cool melody line near the end.

Did they record the show twice? I was only aware of Rosie doing the cast album.
Rosie O'Donnell originated the role in the 1993 revival. She recorded the first cast album for that version. When Brooke Shields replace her in the role they had Brooke record a version replacing Rosie's vocals and keeping the original background vocals and orchestrations.

OMG YES!!! I love all the tracks you've mentioned!! Debbie's Hopelessly Devoted is second next to Olivia's. I also love those Radio Waxx Jingles they throw in on the 1993 London Cast Album.
And the ONLY reason I went to the 1993 revival of GREASE! repeatedly was because I had a huge crush on Susan Wood AND Ricky Paull Goldin. LMAO!! Those two were just soooo sexy together!
Same exact cast recording with only Brooke Shields adding her vocals to the Rizzo tracks and sections. They did the same thing when Brooke replaced (quite successfully) Donna Murphy in the revival of WONDERFUL TOWN.
