WHAT. How will she sing There Are Worse Things I Could Do??
"Contentment, it seems, simply happens. It appears accompanied by no bravos and no tears."
I love that Didi Conn is the waitress! Very cool. She is a lovely person too.
... most of the production stills look great, but there are a few hairstyles that seem a bit too modern, and what's up with that cheerleader skirt from the 1980s on Sandy? Few if any cheerleaders were wearing them that short back in the late fifties. The hems were lower-thigh at the highest and usually just above or even below the knee. That shot of Sandy looked wrong for the period.

With all this attention to detail on doing a carbon copy of the movie, I wonder if people are going to be upset that Sandy doesn't have an Australian accent.
That reminds me of when I saw the Adam/Anthony Rent tour and some of the younger audience members were confused that Seasons of Love wasn't the first song.
(Not wrong; just shows experience and knowledge!)

The rain would be amazing! This show is going to break LIVE records! I like the Live audience, it will bring the show to life and hopefully eliminate some of the flatness that was in the other Lives.
OMG, Imagine being so talented at young an age. (FF to :30)
In the latest promo you get to hear the new rendition of "You're the One That I Want" and a bit of "Greased Lightning." They sound absolutely fantastic! I love the new arrangements for "You're the One That I Want" and Aaron and Julianne sound terrific.
I saw the original '72 stage version a couple of times and of course the movie. I always assumed that the Zuko character in the film version was given "Greased Lightnin'" because Travolta was such a hot property back then. But I saw a promo for the live version that indicates Kenickie has again lost that number to Zuko. I guess I've been out of the loop---have the revivals since the movie given that song permanently to Zuko? If so, that's a shame. It helped give Kenickie some background.
They are using as the base the 1978 film adaptation (including the songs added/written for it: "Hoplessly Devoted to You", "You're the One that I Want", etc) but also incorporating elements from the Broadway production such as songs ("Freddy, My Love", etc) as well. It'll be a mish-mosh of both.
Question? Are we really excited about this being "Great"? It's getting a lot of talk and pr. Is it really going to get 20 million viewers?
I love AT and he's great in Catch Me and other things so I'm happy for him. The rest of the cast should be okay, but 3 Hours for Grease is a long time. Unless of course like NBC, it becomes "Commercials! Live! and some grease too".

It's anybody's guess how many viewers this will attract. Don't under estimate the power of "Grease" though, it's a pretty much well loved and popular musical. This may just pull in huge numbers.
I admire all the effort they are putting into this. Those production/rehearsal photos look great!
