I’ve been in London for a bit but I just got back in NY and was finally got to see this again tonight. Even with all the changes the show has undergone since I saw it last I still think it’s the best new musical of this season. The audience adored it and gave one of the longest standing ovations I remember seeing for quite a long time. I can’t wait to see it again next week!
Trying to figure out what they're doing with this umbrella is incredibly amusing to me. Between the four times I've been to the show and a few friends who have gone, this is what we've personally seen:
March 22nd (first preview): flashy green umbrella
March 27th evening: flashy green umbrella
March 28th: flashy green umbrella
March 29th: plain black umbrella
April 3rd matinee: flashy green umbrella
April 8th (tonight): plain black umbrella
And then you've got someone here saying they saw a red one?
It's honestly become exciting for me to see which one they're going to whip out this time, ha!
Add to that the April Fools post that the umbrella was going to shoot confetti, and clearly someone on the creative is putting a whole lot of thought into this very minor detail!

From my recollection, Saturday March 30th, evening: plain black umbrella

Hmm. Maybe it was bright green and I'm misremembering.
I'll certainly be paying attention tonight.

I wish Reeve all the best and a long healthy and prosperous run, but since Oklahoma! Is a limited engagement, maybe Damon Daunno could take over for Orpheus whenever Reeve decides to leave. Full circle would be great and would love to see his interpretation.

They were filming the show tonight, would that be for Lincoln center? Does that happen during previews?!
Maybe for marketing purposes?
Possibly since it’s opening in a few days. Otherwise they’re filming for BRoll.

Pretty sure it's B Roll... Lincoln Center wouldn't come until after the show is opened for a while...

Didn't they just release some clips to TheaterMania? I assumed those were from BRoll but I don't know what else they'd be filming tonight then

It's B-Roll. Patrick Page talked about it on Instagram today.

Theatremania video is probably press "sneak peak"...not the same as B Roll or Lincoln Center... but fun just the same!

It was for marketing, at least according to one of the filming staff.
Black umbrella. If the show isn't frozen, it's close--both Rachel and Anaïs were there last night (they did a bit of a Pete Seeger sing-along at the statedoor).
Love the show, but I do miss Persephone's part from Chant II from the NYTW production (Hades part seems to be partially intact, but I think Persephone's is totally gone)

For people who have seen the show, who usually stagedoors?

The Green Umbrella always stagedoors, and the Black stagedoors after evening performances, but not on matinee days.

I'm nominating these umbrellas that we keep hearing about for the Tony for "Best Prop"... lol
I heard the green umbrella isn't on tonight. I can't believe this level of unprofessionalism. I paid for these tickets, I deserve to see the green umbrella.

I'll get to meet the green AND the black umbrella? i don't know if I'll be able to handle the excitement

That green umbrella is out more than Betty Buckley!

I was able to meet everyone but Amber and Andre last week. I also met Rachel that night, but at the back of the theater during intermission, not at the stage door
If the use of parasol* is just a matter of chance, then it might be a fun idea to create purpose behind its use.
If it's deliberate, then it's already a great gimmick for fans to solve the mystery (is there meaning? if so, what?)
In opposition to Tootsie's merch issues, I think the parasol could be a fun feature for Hadestown merch, as a subtle inclusion to the logo on merchandise. On Green Parasol days, sell only merch with an unobtrusive green parasol, black on Black Parasol days.
* If you like calling it an umbrella, so be it, and have fun - but it's a parasol like those used in New Orleans (Criolle? - not sure of correct term) funeral parades.
