Ruffalo looks like he's acting his heart out but also seems, alas, miscast.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
~ Muhammad Ali
I think this really looks amazing. The Normal Heart is one of my favorite plays, and this looks likes like a really good adaptation. I also have a lot of faith in HBO.
Anything regarding shows stated by this account is an attempt to convey opinion and not fact.
O'Hare also played State Sen. Briggs in MILK, a role not very friendly to the gay persuasion.
I think the teaser looks a little bland and by-the-numbers, which may prove to disappoint after the pure furnace of fiery energy of the recent revival, but it's still not enough footage to judge anything by just yet.
Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.
I've been very nervous since Ryan Murphy first expressed interest in adapting The Normal Heart, but this really does look fantastic. I'm really excited now.
Looks awesome. The Normal Heart is one of the brightest spots in my theatrical history, and so I'm very wary of anything that attempts to recreate that brilliance. But this is encouraging.
