Ok, well at least the theatermania article gave us a little bit of the speech:
"This started six years ago when I got a voicemail from Stephen Schwartz saying, 'I've written three songs. Would you come over and sing them for me so I can hear them?' And that later became Wicked, an amazing journey of blessings and heartache, and discipline," said an emotional Block.
Let me add my congratulations to Stephanie Block!! I enjoyed her Elphaba so much.
I'm also so glad Urinetown did so well, especially Stephen F. Schmidt who is one of my favs. Damn Yankees was also terrific. We sure have some quality theater in this area. *happy dance*
aww, she looks SO BEAUTIFUL!!! I am SO proud of her! She really did deserve this award! What an honor! May many more wonderful things come her way!!!
What is your dream role?
My dream role would be to be myself. To be performing at the Hollywood Bowl and to have an audience there just to see me, as Stephanie. They are there because they like what I do as a singer, an artist and a person (the last being the most important). I enjoy escaping and portraying other characters, but to be accepted and wanted as yourself... that's amazing! --Stephanie J. Block
Just one of the many reasons I admire and respect Stephanie!!
I wish I had seen that show when I had a chance. And that's perfectly on topic, StephanietheStar. This thread is for the awards show as a whole as well... not just the one catagory I was following.
I thought Stephanie's acceptance speech was very nice. Franca's speech was painful. The explanation of her dream was so strange and unnecessary. I was glad Urinetown did so well, as I thought that was very well done. I had hoped Carolyn Pasquantonio would win for best lead female in a resident play partly because I know her and partly because I thought she was amazing. There were a few others that I hoped would win mostly because I knew them. I was quite surprised columbinus didn't win more, as I heard it was amazing. Oh, and too many ties in a row. That got old. Ok I'm done for now.
What happened to Andrae?
Fan: Oh my god! You're, like, standing right there and, like, looking right at me and, like, oh my god!
Anthony Rapp: Yes, that's a pretty accurate discription of reality.
I remember her thanking the community and saying how great it was to get to come to DC for this and be appreciated. She thanked the judges I believe. She was just very gracious and humble. She also said she would share the award with Kendra. I believe someone already mentioned her talking about Stephen Shwartz asking her to sing the first three songs he wrote for Wicked so he could hear how they sounded aloud. Oh, and I agree with Harpo about Stephen Schmidt. He was great and he's a very nice guy. It was amazing how every cast member involved in Urinetown brought up how it was such an amazing group to work with and they had fun every day.

She is an amazing actress and singer...and such a kind, caring person. It's wonderful to see her honored in this way.
Yay Steph!!

have to look at yourself in the mirror every day and you have to feel good
about the way you
behaved." --Linda Balgord

But you're getting the truth today"
