Oh, fantastic. Throw someone like Marc in here to make everyone stick their feet in their mouths. :) Now we'll be getting tons of "Actually, I think Zac is a fantastic Link."
Good to see you, Marc. I share your name, C and all.

haha, i was just thinking that... "umm well wait a sec, now that i look at it, he would be good."
my main gripe - was that Iwanted an unknown. and the fact that i said id kill myself if someone from hsm was in it. ^^
but never will i not want to see the Hairspray movie! <- i mean I pass the time by making mock-posters for the film.. I am obsessed.

re: zac being dubbed in HSM
then how did they perform live on the Today show? Just wondering, was it taped and they just lip-synced? I dont think the crowd would have bought it.

The thing about having Zac in Hairspray (if it is indeed true) is that all the little Disney fans would want to see the movie because, "OHMYGOD! TROY IS IN THIS MOVIE MOMMIE!" And voila, kids have been introduced to real theater (in movie form). But I've never seen Hairspray so I don't know too much about it (other than the fact that a friend that has seen it told me I would love it).
And I like Zac. Don't hurt me. And I like High School Musical even if it is cheesy. Don't hurt me. And I'm not afraid to admit that I was singing "Breaking Free" during my volleyball game tonight.
And Marc, the song you wrote for Katie's last Today show was EXCELLENT! Just fyi.

I clicked on the thread, expecting a website link for Hairspray Movie... What a dork I am!
Anyways, I think he is a great/horrible choice... It'll obviously boost up the box office sales, but however, if that happens, obviously, a lot of teenager girls are gonna go crazy about "Hairspray" (more for Zac Efron), saying it's the best musical they have ever seen, not appreciating the musicals in general at all...

Posted: 6/22/06 at 12:16amOh I will just be thrilled to sit in a Theatre (seeing Hairspray) surrounded by High School Musical groupies.. *rolls eyes*

But somehow, I think you'll live. Maybe. Take a weapon, show em you mean business.
Only joking about that last part. Though it may come in handy.

First off, IMDB is almost never reliable, especially the people that post on there. I will wait for an official press release.
Second, the casting for this movie has been odd. You can put a group of relatively well-knowns and veterans together, but does that mean that they can create an electrifying film?
I have a feeling that this HAIRSPRAY will be nothing more than RENT and THE PRODUCERS--an almost carbon copy of the original stage show. I cannot see any creative and artistic endeavors being employed for this film.
I would love to be proven wrong, though.

It won't be a carbon copy - with the exception of the Marc and Scott, the entire creative team is different. And Rent wasn't either - it would have been decent if that was the case.
If they are casting him solely to ride the High School Musical wave of popularity, they are greatly mistaken; the Hairspray movie is still a year and a half off. High School Musical will surely not be as popular then (one would think/hope).

yeh... at least we know he did audition for the movie.
music man- How can you say its a carbon copy?? if that was true we'd have Marissa as tracy, Harvey as Edna etc...
plus we have a new director/choreographer (adam shankman) so it wont be the same steps.. and we havent seen any production photos... because well, it hasnt begun.... so a carbon copy? i dont get it - unless thats just your prediction.

I *think* I heard somewhere they were already filming. I could be very very wrong though. But even if they are already filming, he may not have time because doesn't Hairspray stuff start soon?
And honestly, that kid who originally posted that on IMDB is probably lying. So yeah.

Posted: 6/22/06 at 12:46amyeh, i was thinking that too... I believe HSM2 is to start filming this fall.. the same time as Hairspray... so unless they are boh in toronto... *shrug*

You know, I doubt it's Zac. Which is A-Okay. I mean I don't dislike him, but if yall (minus Marc
) insist he's not right for Link (which I know nothing about), then it may be better for him to stick with HSM2.
