No, people misconstrued the original announcement.
It's currently the #1 trend on Twitter in the US.

They're performing the opening number of Hamilton, not on the Grammys.

No. Hamilton is performing the opening number from the show on the Grammys, not opening the Grammy show.
Btw, according to tweets from folks at the Richard Rodgers right now, Hamilton should go on around 9 PM.

No, LMM had tweeted they are singing their show's opening number 'Alexander Hamilton' Tweets from Richard Rodgers indicate they will be performing in about an hour (15 minutes ago) Nice shout-out from the host LL Kool J

Wait, why are people at the Richard Rodgers right now? Are they holding like a viewing event there? I must have missed something.

From what I've seen on social media, it looks like lots of industry people are making up the audience at the Richard Rodgers. I'm guessing cast and crew got invites.

Oh duh. I forgot the Grammys were across the country (to be quite honest I've never paid any attention to the Grammys in the slightest).

I've been watching the Hammy's for an hour and I'm growing impatient. Does anyone listen to this music? I must be old. I'm looking forward to Gaga's Bowie tribute too, but that's about it.

Does anybody know if they were supposed to sing the opening number, "Grammy Hamilton" at the beginning of the Oscar's tonight?

Yes, and in fact, Hamilton uses inspiration from genres of music that are not related to theatre, so our preferences don't exist in a vacuum. Who knew?!

Oh, I listen to a lot of music outside of theater. Just not any of this. Glad you're enjoying it.

This actually has been a very good show so far, minus a few here and there. But overall, well done.

Great performance but Lin looks exhausted.

Well that was boring. Out of all the great songs in Hamilton, they choose the prologue? Yikes. What a miss.

Lin did look tired but I thought they did a good job.

YAY. That was fun. Although I really hate all of the close ups -- it's supposed to be seen "broadly" -- and it was obnoxious that the NY crowd couldn't keep from interrupting the flow.
But it's great to see live theatre on TV -- even if the LA audience didn't really seem enthused.
I'm lucky to have seen it on Broadway. Looking forward to being lucky again.

The people I'm watching with (who are not Broadway people) said afterwards: "This is what all the hype is about? Why did it get a standing ovation?" Ha.

Been trying so hard to get into this show, but that did absolutely nothing for me.
