People who can't act typically don't deserve Tony Awards.....

I loved Head Over Heels being a big fan of the go-go's and musical theater! I saw the pre Broadway run in SF!
Agree that Bonnie Milligan, choreo, and costumes deserved nominations. Peppermint?? Not so much...She's perfectly likeable but has limited abilities.

There are only a limited number of nominations. Most of the time, the number of nominations will be less than the number of award worthy performances. A perfomer/creative's work can be deserving and still not nominated. So, whom should not have been nominated in favor of Milligan or Peppermint or Liff? Because, you're going to have to un-nominate someone to get your preferred performer/creative onto the list.

Oh, FFS, pleased don't turn this into a 'they hate/dismissed us' argument.
The show was crap with very talented performers trying their hardest to make it work. It didn't.

Straight white men, actually men in general, were in the minority on the nominating committee. Could it be that they liked other shows better and weren't trying to make a statement at all?

The notion of FAIRNESS going off the road and yes, everyone deserves a TONY. Dumbest thread ever.

I do think it's a shame a few of the elements from HOH didn't make to the nominees list. But whenever I hear about a "snub" my question usually is who would they take out to put in their place? So I guess I'll ask the OP: who would you have taken out to make room for your HOH nominee?

Are you forgetting the circus-themed Seussical thread (was that BroadwayGuy or something like that)? Or any started by Philly Pinto or Sue Storm or Chi Chi?

The only really, true SNUB here was the Choreography with 100% should have been nominated. Everything else though... no. Milligan would have been a pleasant surprise in the category but there is just only so much space to work with her and the featured categories are the 4 HARDEST to get a slot in as they have the biggest pool of performers that both qualify and deserve to be in them. But Peppermint? First off, the role is no where near a meaty enough role to get attention. Second, ---- just was okay in it. And the idea that the musical itself it the "best" of the season is just... it's a cute musical but overall while it had some very interesting design elements that were wonderful to look at... the jarring difference between the proper almost Shakespearean sounding book and the modern pop music made it almost unwatchable at times. Just because it had representation in it does not give it a free pass from being an okay at best musical.
And to even suggest that a performer that was a long shot in their Broadway debut would leave the business because of not getting a LONG SHOT nomination... you owe her a damn apology to even SUGGEST she would be that kind of a shallow and petty person. We'd have a LOT less actors and actresses on Broadway if every featured performer making a Broadway debut in a flop show stopped acting all together because they didn't get a nomination. She is stronger then that and she is better than that and if it's meant to happen one day it will happen. LOOK how many well loved, respected, and hard working actors their are that have never gotten a nomination before. HELL Patrick Page just got his FIRST ever nomination yesterday and he's one of the most respected guys on the great white way!

First of all, I loved Head Over Heels, and felt it was better deserving of a nomination than Beetlejuice and would have loved to see Bonnie nominated. My daughter and I loved it and it pushed all the buttons for us, but alas not everyone agrees.
But I am replying to your quote that "old, straight, white.."

I count 26 (female names). Many of these are people of color. Many of them are members of the LGBTQ+ community or strong supporters. The are all masters of their crafts and I would assume took the task of nominating very seriously. They are hardly old, white, straight men.
BTW--I do agree that we have major issues in this country with old white straight men dominating culture and decisions. But, the nominations of the Tony Awards is really not one of them.

Actually I was about to start one for Pretty Woman. No nominations? Are you kidding me? It's like they're saying to hookers and middle aged white johns this isn't your world. Disgusting. Did they have any hookers on the nominating committee? No, thank you very much. Disgusting. Oh, I said that already. never mind.

Orrrrr.......maybe it’s just a crappy show. Funny you are blaming LGBTQ phobia on this snub, because if that was the case, how did Boys in the Band, Torch Song, The Prom, and Gary all score nominations?
There was no way Head Over Heels was ever getting nominated. It’s horrible.
