Hi, I've been debating about whether to go see Hello Dolly or Mean Girls. I've wanted see Mean Girls because I adore the film but Hello Dolly is also a favorite of mine. My only thing with Hello Dolly is that I don't if I should see Bernadette Peters or Bette Midler in it. I'd appreciate your input and suggestions.

Dolly with Bette is pretty once in a lifetime (or 5-6 in my case).

This isn't even a question. Dolly!, no doubt. And go for Bette. A theatre experience you'll remember forever.

I'm of the same age as those who grew up on the movie Mean Girls, but my vote is for Hello, Dolly! without question. Seriously.

Hello Dolly closes August 25, Mean Girls will probably be open for years, go see Hello Dolly.
(As for which version, I've seen it with both Bernadette Peters and Bette Midler, and personally I'm more a fan of Peters in general, but the audience response to Midler was MUCH bigger.)

I did enjoy Bernadette, so if you end up in town and the choice becomes Bernadette versus Mean Girls, I'd still say Dolly.

This. You won't regret seeing Bernadette in the role, but if you can get tickets for Bette, it's probably the better pick just for the once-in-a-lifetime experience.

HELLO, DOLLY! is one for the ages. I’ve seen it with Pearl Bailey and Carol Channing (a 1990s tour). I’d love to see it wth Bernadette or Bette...and will definitely catch Betty Buckley on tour.
Please see DOLLY and let us know what you thought of it.

My niece- who is not at all into Broadway- and likes very superficial entertainment- saw Mean Girls and thought it was too light- I had to laugh. Dolly- not much depth, IMO- but Bernadette is a fabulous performer - and Bette- if you can get tickets and want to spend a lot of money- is a good choice.

Mean Girls is an excellent show. I saw it last week, and was thoroughly entertained the entire time.
However, this production of Hello, Dolly! is a theatrical event. It is a historically brilliant masterpiece, and if you have any chance to see it, I strongly encourage you to. I promise you will not regret it.
Mean Girls will be around for a few years. Dolly! will not.

I've heard Bernadette is leagues better in the role than Midler.

It's pretty clear the only thing you're willing to actually hear is the echo of your own words.

Right cause I can afford to see both Bette and Bernadette. LOL

I guess you're not as poor as you made yourself out to be. Despite all that whining about Scott Rudin making Bette inaccessible to people like you, you can afford a ticket to see her after all and still have enough money left over to see Bernadette too. I'm overjoyed for your sudden and new found wealth.

That was obviously sarcasm. Of course I can't afford to see them both. I can't afford to see one of them. Haha. But the people who did tell me that Bernadette was better said Bernadette seemed to be playing the character, and Bette seemed to just be playing herself. They also said Bernadette's emotional moments in the show seemed more genuine.
