I've seen it 12 times. Ridiculous, I know. It would take a dream combo for me see it again. Glinda: Katie Clarke or Megan Hilty. Elphaba: Not as picky, but never got to see Nicole Parker. Would also buy a ticket to see Sara Ramirez or Katie Shindle as Elphaba.
Saw the tour 2 times when it was in my city a few months ago. REALLY enjoyed Katie Clarke. A friend called at the last minute with a free ticket. I went because I wanted to see Katie again. Unfortunately, her understudy was on, and I found myself rather bored. So, I'm taking a break. Haven't listened to the OBC recording in months. I was even in San Francisco last week and didn't think of going!
7 times. I didn't get bored of the show (although I am now), I just got over it. I just noticed that there were better shows to watch instead.
When I saw the production in LA, there was this girl that had seen it 140+ times, she said " I stopped counting at 140." It was sad, she would go to stagedoor and just talk to them, no picture, no playbill. Reaaly pathetic, she actually though she had some sort of friendship with them.
Why would anyone want to see this show more than...maybe four times? While I do think the show is enjoyable, I also think the book is awful, the lyrics are just stupid, and I'll give credit to the music score...I like the orchestrations.
I'll admit that I've seen the show three times. Once on Broadway while it was still in previews. Once to see my friend, Stephanie, on the first national tour. And once to see my friend, Katie, on the tour last year. Two out of three of those times I was going to support a friend. Otherwise, I would have just stuck to seeing it only once.
I've only seen it once but that one time, I loved the hell out of it.

ATTENTION FANS: I will be played by James Barbour in the upcoming musical, "BroadwayWorld: The Musical."
Twice. The first time was on Broadway because it was 'the show to see' - I was distinctly underwhelmed. The second was when it opened in London and I thought maybe a different cast and freshly directly directed production would improve it. Apart from a much better orchestra it didn't and I still don't get all the fuss...
"Reaaly pathetic, she actually though she had some sort of friendship with them."
Mmm..the girl in Australia that has seen it 40 times thinks the same things. She said, well the quote: "They know us" [referring to a group].
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
