I must've been sitting right by you in the back-right of the orchestra because I heard the hair dye comment too! There was also an audience member in the area who took multiple photos about an hour into the play, really taking her time to do so without any hint of shame or discretion.

The audience was horrendous when I went as well.

Insane. Thankfully I missed the picture-taking.
I fear I would’ve lost it.

We were a lucky audience tonight as there was very minimal coughing and no comments from the audience. As for the play, I went into it blind and reeeeeeally liked it. It’s a bit of a slow burn for the first 30 minutes where it’s basically just a long monologue from Jackman but once it gets going, that’s some damn fine writing, I thought.
It’s a story I think we’ve seen a lot over the years (teacher has affair with student) but this was written so differently as not to truly “blame” anyone for what happened and just lets the characters play out the beginnings to the end of it as adults coming to terms in their own way with what they’ve done and what it means and I just found that to be a very different approach to telling that story.
As for Ella Beatty, I personally found her to be just fantastic in this. Her acting I felt was spot on as a young, inexperienced girl getting involved in this thing they’re doing and her growth of the character was just great. Both of them, really. Not sure if I’ll get a chance to see this one again but it’d be great to watch it again, knowing how it ends.

I have not stopped thinking about this since I saw it. Insane to me how there’s still so much availability for it.

Now appears to be totally sold out.

I'm torn between this or Gatsby for a thursday matinee as I don't think there is nothing else on May 22, right?
I'm already seeing Oh, Mary on Sunday.

If you’re able to see this, I highly recommend you do.

SEXUAL MISCONDUCT OF THE MIDDLE CLASSES is returning to the Minetta Lane with Jackman & Beatty starting March 17.
Some dates are already onsale via Ticketmaster, some go on sale later today, but it doesn't seem there's been a press release...a funny way to roll this out!
Good for Hugh continuing to return to smaller-scale theatre.

He’s the Frankie Valli of the theatre business. Has to pay off that settlement somehow I guess.

I didn't think anyone was really clamoring for this to come back. Maybe commercial theater really is dead!

Right, Hugh Jackman is doing a small off-Broadway play to pay off his debts. If only he had been cast in a massively successful superhero franchise that made him millions. Oh, well!

If he owes a significant percentage of those millions (which could easily be the case as it could be argued his ex wife gave up her own career to support his), then yes he’d be aiming to earn as much as possible with his available time.

Thank goodness for off-Broadway theatre! The $5,000 he makes for this run will put a big dent in his divorce settlement. But how will he eat?

First of all, there’s an “if” - a big one
Secondly, do we really think an off-broadway play is the top priority for Hugh Jackman IF he needs to make big bucks.
Idealism is shining again ; )

5000 more than he’d make sitting at home.

The divorce was settled, she received a fantastic pay out, and he is free to marry Ms. Foster this Summer. Concerning yourself with the financials of a man worth many millions of dollars is bizarre and absolutely none of your business. Move on, they all have.
But yes, an Off-Broadway play is clearly the most lucrative thing you could ever do as an actor who can do whatever he wants in life. 100%
