“We want original works!!!”
“Yay Music Man revival!!!”
Make up your mind!"
I don't see how those are particularly in conflict.
I think the general want is better original work and better revivals. Not all original work, all the time. A revival as good as, say, “Hello, Dolly!” is worth a theater being dark to a potential incoming new work. It puts great talent to work and fills the pockets of producers (granted, not *every* producer) who can then take risks on producing other, less obviously marketable properties.

They are both great singers but neither has the voice to sing that score.

My money is on it being Kristin Chenoweth.
I saw the recent revival on tour and thought the production value was gorgeous even for a tour. Hopefully this will be something interesting. Not much you can do with it that would be different.
To jump off ColorTheHours048's point, I think what most people want is a range of work. Nobody wants a Broadway filled with only play revivals, or only new indie musicals, or only British drama –– we'd all get sick of it. That's the beauty of theatre: You can have Hadestown and Tootsie and Glenda Jackson's King Lear and Kiss Me Kate and What The Constitution Means To Me all playing at the same time!

Do the math. She can't spend the whole show on that footbridge,

Maybe she’ll be wheeled around on a box

Is it too early to be dream-casting the understudies? Because Nikki Renee Daniels would be a perfect Marian understudy.

She could stand on a pile of books.
Awww bummer, after seeing Seth Rudetsky's video of Patti LuPone singing "Trouble", I've been hoping for a gender bent Music Man starring Patti LuPone as Harold Hill and Norm Lewis as Marian

LOL. I almost just posted the same thing. I don't how they could manage that.

The erasure of the trail-blazing work of Bobbie Adler as Professor Carole Hill in "The Music Person!"

I understood that Laura Osnes was set as Marian. Isnt that happening? It's fine with me...I think she would be wonderful and would be my first choice.

You "understood" that she was set? How so? From a message board?
What I really want to know is which actresses will play those wonderful "Pick a Little" ladies (Rosie O'Donnell is "a given," of course).
Keala Settle would be perfect for a Pick a Little lady, but I'm sure it's far too small a role for her. Would be cool to reunite them after TGS.

Gender swap...Zac Efron as Marian!
I’m sure Jackman would love that..

To be clear, I suggested Rosie for one of the "Pick a Little" ladies. I said nothing about her performing as Mrs Paroo, either in the past or for this production.

Yea, It's NOT Laura...so happy now! Sutton Foster in the rumor around town.
She probably wouldn’t do it, but can you imagine the meal Kristine Nielsen would make out of all the Baaaaaalzac’s?
