I agree that I don't hear Sutton (whom I adore) as a Legit Soprano (eg Cook, Jones, Luker, Chenoweth) But maybe she has that range and just hasn't used it before.
But "My White Knight" really sits up there!
Honestly, I'm so excited!
I really love The Music Man, and I'm such a fan of Jackman.

Sooo.... I am just throwing this out there as someone I would personally love to see in this and kinda fits the above but.... what about Megan Hilty?

I said this in the last page!!! This came to my mind first to be honest.
I love Hilty and think she's fabulously talented and would make a great Marian, but she's not a "leading stage star," if we're going by that blind item.

I realize that. I was just wondering since I really enjoyed her performance in DC and I posted that prior to reading the post that you referenced.

I think Hilty would sell well alongside Hugh Jackman however. I do agree though Sutton is more of a "leading stage star". But they could fit Hilty in that bag too. It'll be exciting either way.

NO THANKS. Besides the fact that he will be boring in the show and we know exactly how he'll oversing it, let's not forget he is good friends with the Trumps and continues to give them all a pass and turn a blind eye to the things this administration is doing.

Kristin Chenoweth?"
I heard Chenoweth sing 'Till There Was You' once in a concert, and I thought she did an incredible version. I think she would be great. Since Jackman and Chenoweth are the same age, that would work. Might even make the story more believable (vs. a Hill who is 20 years older than Marian, which I have seen a couple of times.
Sutton's gonna mix-belt the end of My White Knight the same way that she ended "A-ny-thing Go-hooooooes!" (and then she and Mrs. Paroo break into a tap number).
(I WISH)

There’s just one problem. Kristin already played Marion opposite Matthew Broderick

But if Marian is more of Hill's age (or just older in general) - that would be a real age stretch between Marian and Winthrop.
There is always going to be an awkward age gap between Marian and Winthrop, unless Marian is, like, 18.

They could pull a homeless person off the street, cast her as Marian, and it wouldn't impact the Box Office at all. This is the Hugh Jackman show, and everyone else is just a bonus. Sort of like Dolly: everyone else was talented, and David Hyde Pierce has some fans, but Bette Midler playing that role was the reason people went to see it.

Yes, the one problem was Broderick who was lifeless and uncharming and totally not Harold Hill.
I think I would have been more exciting to hear that he was cast in a Broadway bound Magic Mike.

But whilst playing a charismatic huckster with a softer side will be incredibly easy for Jackman, songs like “Trouble” are some of the hardest in the musical genre. I will be interested to see if Jackman can pull them off...
“The Music Man” is not very well known over here in Britain, mostly due to the very American subject matter. I believe that a popular film or stage revival could give it the international success it deserves..."
Seems like he'll be able to handle it.... :)

Am I the only one who just...doesn’t...want a revival?
“We want original works!!!”
“Yay Music Man revival!!!”
Make up your mind!

It’s possible to want more than one thing.
Just for fun, or something else?
