I also love when people can't take what they have no trouble dishing out, and when people automatically assume that a debatable conflict of *opinion* is personal bashing; "I just stated....!" Right. You just stated and didn't expect anyone to "just state" back.
Yup. Honey, you're the saint and we're just a bunch of mangy, preposterous kids with proverbial cattle-prods.
"Mess ups?" You're "too old for this" and you say "mess ups?"
^^ see, now that is bashing. I have now pointed out the difference.
Amanda J: Is that why Idina kept switching seats and fidgeting with her chair? That was nice of her . . . I couldn't figure out what the heck she was doing!
"I wrote a book: "How to Be Popular". Now I've put together a top ten list of how to help you:
-Elphie, everyday... shower. I mean, who knows? Maybe some of that green is gonna come off!
-Deodorant Elphie. No body likes a stinky witch!
-I think we've covered the hair, we'll get to that.
-Clean underclothes. That's all I'm gonna say.
-Look at your posture. That's no way to be popular!
-Bed made, room straightened. We've done that.
-Colors blended. Oookay.
-But the most important thing to have, to make yourself popular, is to keep your beautiful smile."
~Kristin Chenoweth in her last performance of the song "Popular"
Since Strega's claimed to be gone, I won't argue with her on anything she said, just add some things that I feel should be stated:
I too have talked to Wilson's girlfriend on several occasions and agree she has been nothing but extremely nice and personable. Not that...it really should matter to people on here whether she is nice or isn't, but because she was wrongly called out on being rude, I need to shoot down that wrong opinion.
And while I wasn't at the party and I can't say anything about Daphne's behavior there (though I heard she was very nice to the fans there), on my own "stage door" experiences with her she has been extremely kind and gracious, going above I think just being compliant. She personalized my Public Sings program which I heard she does often, and with me and others, will ask questions, engage in conversation.
Again, not that this sort of behavior towards fans should be expected, but because negative things were posted, I felt the need to show how I think it's the opposite case. I wouldn't want people who have heard things to think negatively on two women who from my brief encounters with have been incredibly sweet and engaging. That's all that I think is worth responding to.
"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli
Wow, don't go on BWW for one night and look what happens! I am not going to really say anything but I didn't think strega really was saying that she expected autographs but that the ACTORS should have expected fans wanting them. Yes it was their night, but they chose to be actors and they have to know that they have fans who want to meet them, get autographs etc especially at such an event and when there hasn't been an opportunity in years for most of them. And who knows maybe Wilson's girlfriend was particularly rude to strega and in that case she can have a bad opinion about her if she wants- although after meeting her once thats a bit rash, but if you guys weren't there to see it, I mean who knows right? I just don't think its fair to assume that strega was one of those crazy fans who were all over the actors because if you haven't met her or seen her how could you know? I have never met Wilson's girlfriend but she has him to herself all the time so really even if she didn't see him all weekend, she has to know that his fans want to meet him and won't necessarily get another chance for a while, where she will get him all to herself after the party is over. But she could have like you guys said been trying to "save" him from the fans at the same time- who knows we are not them. Okay don't jump all over me I am just trying to look at this from strega's point of view
Talked to her at the party. VERY NICE. Took a picture with me and let me gush at her entirely - she was the one I was deeply obsessed with when I saw the show in 96 as a 15 year old, and I have to say, meeting her made me go all fangirl on the inside.
She was impossibly sweet, gave me a hug, and held my hands as I was talking to her. I have no idea what the person who had the bad experience did - maybe they interrupted her while she was eating?
Now what would you say if today I started over?
Without a thing but this taped together four leaf clover
And I'll pretend like everything is already alright
And I'll run toward the sun till the castle's out of sight
Calling Wilson's girlfriend a b*tch is not something you determine after a 3 second interaction with her- unless she's killing puppies and knocking over old ladies in those 3 seconds. The only thing she did that pissed strega off was to *dare* take him away from her/the fans. I'm not going to bother justifying her behavior- strega isn't worthy of an explanation.
And I'm sorry, but after insulting Daphne as well and claiming she was rude, then it HAS to be strega that was the problem, because Daphne was nothing but sweet every time I saw her that night.

Wanting life but never
knowing how
I know i'm a bit late.. I just returned from nyc and didn't have internet access. I thought the performance was wonderful. I was a bit disappointed in taye and idina, but in general it was worth every penny. The after party was amazing.I did think that more of the obc would be there, but i can understand why they weren't. The present cast are just so nice.. i felt like a rock star dancing with them all night.. the open bar definitely helped my nerves. Gwen stewart was so nice! Daphne was a sweet heart as well. It was a night i'll never forget!
I know I'm a bit late on this thread, but Jon Bon Jovi was very present to us at the reunion and after-party. Jon and his wife sat right across the aisle from me, I was in row N, seat 1 and Jon was in row N, seat 114. He dropped his ticket at the begining of the performance and I swiped it off the ground once he took off for the party. I'm a bit ashamed, because I'm not a fan or the like. I suppose I thought it to be souvenir-like. When we arrived at the party, our table was 23, and his was 25. No interaction, but he was definitly having a good time.
I'm really really late on this, but I just became infatuated with these boards, and am now going to post (don don don).
I was there... well obviously. Third row, center, and yeah, I did fangirl at the beginning of the show. I was talking so fast that you couldn't understand it if you slowed it down a million and two times, but the second the show started, I calmed down. You don't want to hear a long rant about how wonderful everyone is (because you know), so I'm going to cut to the party.
I was very VERY dissapoitned with my two friends, who are, there's no other way to put this, crazy, annoying Adam fangirls, and they were in the group jumping down everyone's throats at the door. I tried to walk around, see if I could see any newer cast members, Victoria Lencock, Al Larson, etc., and did get to, eventually, but they kept dragging me to the door. It was quite annoying. Then they started b*ching and asking everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) if Adam was going to be there. I ran away. Seriously, RAN, for my life.
There were mobs around all the cast members, and I really get why a bunch of them didn't show. They took my two autograph card-y things and got them signed and dragged me over when we took a picture with Daphne (who I said sorry to, she was SO sweet about it). I was walking around the area where Anthony's mob was, when this girl was screaming crying when she got up to him "OHMYGOD IT'S ANTHONY *cry*". The one hilarious story I heard is from Adam fangirl #2, when Wilson left his original mob, he said "I'm going to the bar, 'cause this boy needs a drink!" Oh, Wilson, I feel yah.
I did get to tell Gwen Stewart that she was brilliant ('cause she is) when her smaller mob went away from her. And I did get to tell an extremely drunk Matt Caplan that I was sad he was leaving soon, but I didn't go crazy.
I'm really ashamed of some Rentheads. It's not about Adam, or Jesse, or Anthony, or Idina. It's about love damn it. So who gives a damn if Adam didn't sign your little card that you spent two hours making on the computer? You just experienced one of the most amazing events in Rent history... can't you appreciate that?
Anyway, I've been trying to block out all the negitive feelings I've been having about this, and just appreciate it, like I said, so I'm not a crazy hypocrite.
I could not have cared less if any of the performers were reading from scripts or had their lines memorized I was just grateful that they all were there and I was there as well.
And whoever posted the link regarding the broadway.com photos-THANK YOU! They are great!
The memory lives on....
