Saw the show last night and thought Jane was great. Didn't seem to have much chemistry with the actors that played Rooster and Lilly. Also, Lilla's accent was incredibly distracting. And Merwin Ford was on for Oliver Warbucks. He was great...Wouldn't have known he was a cover if I didn't look in the playbill. Brynn O'Malley was also great...
"If they're looking for a replacement when Jane Lynch leaves the show, they should look no further than Loretta Swit. Her star quality would attract dozens of theater-goers."
I was thinking about going to see it again with Jane. Is it really worth sitting through the the show again just for her???? I was bored the first time.
P.S. I like the show a lot. It was my first Broadway show!!! I just do not care for this revival of it! It is too much like the original.
I saw it last Thursday and I REALLy wanted to love Jane's Hannigan, but I just didn't. I thought it was serviceable and wasn't horrible, but I was not blown away by it as some posters have been. I know it is only her second week in the show so I am excited to see how she grows in the process, but numbers such as Little Girls and Easy Street were just duds for me.
Also the Brooklyn accents are just over the top and dreadful.
Anthony Warlow...Thank You.
Also is Grace normally British?

Everyone hates the accents..I don't know why they continued to use them after a certain point into the run...as I don't think I have ever heard anyone say they were a good thing.
I so know every time I have seen Lilla sing something from Annie outside of the show for promotion = she always manages to say to the audience something like, I don't really have a NY accent, they just tell me to sing it that way.
They do not even sound like NY accents. I am expecting the show to close soon anyway. Looking for a December posting. Milk the holidays and close up shop.
I'm not sure when it will be closing, but I talked to J. Elaine Marcos and she told me that after this show she is going to be doing some shows in L.A. And isn't Brynn going to be doing something at Papermill or something like that. So they are, If I understand, at least leaving the show.
Rosie O'Donnell is a fat slob who can't sing a note. Why ANYONE would suggest her for this role, a wonderful role created by the inimitable Dottie Loudon, I'll never know.
Could someone explain to me what the big whoop is with the Brooklyn accents? Marcos's accent I can understand but the kids?

ATTENTION FANS: I will be played by James Barbour in the upcoming musical, "BroadwayWorld: The Musical."
I thought Jane was AWESOME this afternoon! A completely confident, solid, and impressive Broadway debut. It was my first time seeing this revival, and Jane definitely stole the show for me. I am still really impressed at how good her voice actually is. I have a feeling she could sing a lot more than Hannigan.
The full cast was in. Lilla performed the matinee, which was a nice surprise, as I was expecting the understudy/alternate. She gives us a standard Annie, but the girl can REALLY sing. Not really fair that she didn't receive a special Tony like the Matildas.
Was also impressed with Anthony Warlow. I was expecting the usually bland Warbucks performance, but I found him quite engaging.
The accents were indeed annoying. They are pretty laughable, and the girls are trying so hard to maintain them throughout the show. Whenver Lilla was exchanging dialogue with Brynn, it almost sounded like Lilla took on the "British sounding" accent. That's not intentional, right?
The storybook set really worked for me. I know there are very mixed opinions on them. Loved when Annie was "stepping through" the different pages/"rooms" of the Warbucks mansion.
Overall, I found it to be a standard ANNIE, and at times boring. Jane definitely stole the afternoon for me. Would like to see her back on Broadway again!
