My friend and I were commenting at intermission that you couldn't tell the understudy from Lilla at all. Same voice, same look, same everything ha- because we were seeing her! Well maybe they just forgot to take down the sign from last night then?

Am I the only one who would like to see Rosie O'Donnell after Jane leaves? Even for just a few weeks, I think she could be really great and is enough of a "star."
For those interested, No "to-do" was made at curtain call about her first night.
I was also there last night, which was originally her first performance (and was still billed in the press as her official opening), and Warlow presented her with a huge bouquet at the curtain call, so there was a small to-do.
I thought Jane was brilliant, even if she couldn't sing quite as strongly as her costars. She was one of the only people up there who got it. I want to see her and Emily Rosenfeld go off and do their own show, just the two of them.

Just out of random curiosity, are the Annie/Orphan understudies actually considered Swings? According to Playbillvault, none of them cover all the Orphan roles so if they were Orphan Swings, wouldn't they cover all the orphan tracks? I keep seeing them referred to as Swings so I wasn't sure.
Also, is Taylor not the 3rd cover for Annie? She seems to be the one going on most often when Lilla is out.
When Taylor sang at At this Performance (the understudies concert), she said she's Annie for "most matinees."

And I just saw Lilla at an April Matinee when I just walked by and got lottery tics. She was also in this past Wed afternoon when Taylor was in at night. There is really no way to tell.
To answer above...If you look at the playbill, Taylor is Duffy in the regular cast and is also listed as Annie "Understudy". She goes on 2 out of 8 times a week as a rule.
Jaidyn who was originally hired as the Annie standby (along with the standby for other parts) and whose name is actually on the poster rarely goes on as Annie anymore. I heard something that she had a huge growth spurt and looks too old.
There are two girls that are listed as swings or understudies (don't remember the terms used) - Brooklyn S and Sadie Sink - and they cover for at least four parts each. Sadie's also listed as a possible Annie in her parts (Brooklyn is little so she does Molly and some other parts). I heard Sadie the other night as Duffy when Taylor did Annie. She has a really mature voice that stood out in her small part. I would like to see her version of Annie (and she has been cast in the new production of Tuck Everlasting when it comes here).
And yes Jane Lynch and Emily Rosenfeld were just hilarious together...

I still wish they would get Miriam Shor as Hannigan. I can't imagine anyone at present more perfect for the role.

@KathyNYC2 - Thank you for the response! As of now, Playbill is saying that Jaidyn Young (Standby) is the 1st cover for Annie, Sadie Sink (Standby) 2nd cover for Annie, and Taylor Richardson (Duffy) 3rd cover for Annie with Jaidyn and Sadie covering Pepper, Duffy, July & Tessie and Brooklyn (Standby) covering Duffy, July, Kate, Molly & Tessie.
Thanks for the information on Jaidyn:). I'm betting she'll be replaced when the new Orphans come in during the next few months.
The ultimate and untouchable Hannigan - Dorothy Loudon
Roxy, that goes without saying.
Which is why I said "at present". Miriam Shor is the only actress I can think of that would even come close to Loudon.
I don't even think anyone could really even come close to Ms. Loudon.

yero,
I saw Lynch on Tuesday night, not her press opening, which we have seen pictures from.
I know that. I just wanted to mention that they did do something on Thursday, even though it was not her first performance.

If they're looking for a replacement when Jane Lynch leaves the show, they should look no further than Loretta Swit. Her star quality would attract dozens of theater-goers.

since this revival is quasi-color-blind, why not Wanda Sykes?
Does Jane Lynch come out the stage door? how crowded is it? I really wanna met her, J Elaine Marcos and Clarke Thorell
Wanda Sykes has done it already.

Wanda would ROCK it! I would buy a ticket in a heartbeat! She is the best. I can only imagine what she brings to the character!
If Wanda Sykes was cast I would book tickets in a flash!
Does anyone know where the TDF seats for this usually are? Are they typically in the balcony? thanks
I know Jane has just started but does anyone know who is replacing Jane in a few weeks? If it is a star, I'm assuming they'll be announced soon.
Side note: On last weeks Theater Talk, Joan Rivers says she was offered Ms Hannigan but had to turn it down due to her schedule (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mHEnPE4Skk about 14 mins in)
I saw the show with Jane last week. I actually really loved it! having seen the show with Katie, I felt that while new to the role, Jane was MUCH better!!! I will admit that she still has a little growing to do- even my mother who saw the show for the first time said that she felt that Jane seemed to not be completely comfortable in the role- it was her first full week and all!
I still feel Easy Street was NOTHING compared to the way it should have been. it was too simple and did not have that power and energy that one comes to expect from that number.

I HONESTLY think it's going to close in July. Lately (of course, minus Chicago), every time a celebrity's contract ends (like Sister Act, Evita, and MAYBE Godspell). the show closes. And even with Jane, it's either not selling that much or the theatre is too big to get full houses
