She's going to be fantastic.
Um...HELL yes. I saw her as Sheila back in January and she blew me away. I have no idea how Caissie Levy could have been any better.
I'd love to see her as Elphaba because she was so distracting in HAIR. I saw the show shortly after it opened and to me, she didn't look period appropriate. She was uber-thin/muscular, her lips looked like they had collagen, her brows were waxed thin, over tanned (way over tanned-almost oompah loopah territory) and looked like a girl you'd see in a club nowadays or on a stripper pole. She bothered me the whole time. I'm not saying she wasn't talented-great voice and very sexy, she just looked very "over done" for the time period.
She's gorgeous and she's incredibly talented. Plus, she's a new face in the WICKED community. The best of luck to her!
I'm pretty sure Jackie Burns starts today, 7/6. She is already listed on the Wicked website as the tour Elphaba, and why would she start on a Thursday?
Did anyone go to Donna's last show?
I saw her as Shelia back in October and her acting and vocals blew me away. Hopefully I will get to see her when Wicked comes to Orlando in March!
Oh wait, I was wrong. She is starting tomorrow. Anyone know why she didn't start Tuesday and if Donna or an u/s/standby played the tuesday/wednesday performances?

I saw the show last night here in Houston (7/6) and the standby, Mariand Torres, was on as Elphaba. I'd assume she'll do tonight's show as well and Jackie will start on Thursday as scheduled.

I was at Donna Vivino's last show in Houston on July 4, 2010. She was unable to perform in the matinee that day since she was still struggling with her dislocated collar bone injury. She was superb in her last show. She did cry buckets of tears throughout while staying focused and determined to perform the show as she has for the past 22 months. Nothing special was done at the curtain call which seemed tragic...but maybe it is what she wanted. A lot of her castmates were crying during and after the show.
I heard several references to Jackie starting on July 6th while in Houston and then read a newspaper article that it would be July 8th. No idea why the delay happened. Seems unusual that they would let one lead go without having the other lead ready...but maybe Jackie got sick or something.
Did anyone go?
Every time I see the title of this thread, I think how much better it would be if it actually said:
"Jackie Hoffman to Join WICKED Tour as Elphaba July 8 in Houston."
I'd go all the way to Houston to see THAT!!

I'd say it's really good for one of the first few times.

That was pretty damned near perfect.
....direct link huh...OYi
Wow. That was pretty weak. All over the place.
really ljay? you didn't give her any support? I'm sure she has had the least direction from the original cast and is making the most of it. sounds like she is doing a terrific job for her first week out.
I saw Mandy Gonzalez during her first week, and she was leagues stronger than that.
I wasn't impressed, either.

Her voice sounds so whiny, even worse then Jenna Leigh Green's when she went on as Elphaba.
I don't doubt Mandy's performance at all. I just wonder how much the original directors are concerned about the new casts that goes out on the tours. When was the last time Joe Mantelo (i'm sure that is spelled wrong) helped out and was involved with the touring cast?
