According to a September 2025 report from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), the U.S. domestic terrorism landscape has seen a "striking reversal" in 2025. Left-wing terrorist attacks and plots have outnumbered those from the far right. Decreased Right-Wing Activity. Rising Left-Wing Activity.

YOU take a seat. Thank you.

No, I support fighting evil. The rest is a fragment of your imagination.

Two things:

  1. Didn't this board used to have moderators? This is a thread about an Evita revival.

  2. While we're off-topic and until mods figure out how to manage this stuff, I'll just say: it's borderline delusional to read the above-quoted research paper and have that takeaway. Direct quote from the summary: "Our analysis of terrorism trends in the United States shows that, indeed, left-wing violence has risen in the last 10 years, particularly since President Donald Trump’s rise to political prominence in 2016, although it has risen from very low levels and remains much lower than historical levels of violence carried out by right-wing and jihadist attackers."

Also saddens me when a fellow arts enthusiast doesn't recognize the long-term impact of the stripping of arts organizations of their funding by a pathetic, weird, decaying, telltale narcissist and the band of oligarchical power-hungry dweebs pulling his puppet strings.

My advice: take a break from social media and the news organizations that are feeding your fears and distracting you from everything the people in power of all three branches of the US government are currently doing to take away your rights, crater the economy, and disrupt the world order.

Back on topic. What happened to the Beaumont? That would be a great place to stage something outdoors and could be much more contained with security, etc.

Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately it has nothing to do with reality. Please try again. My initial posts and reactions are always on-topic (unlike yours). Then someone lets a trail of dirt run out of his pants and calls me certain names, but they're the strangest. Often followed by words that constantly haunt that person's mind, such as Trump, maga, orange. And sometimes I react to that.

This concerned the current situation, from 2025 and after, with regards to a possible Broadway Evita production. I stated the facts.

HBP said: "This is a thread about an Evita revival."

Exactly. Let's stay on-topic. I totally agree.

Evita will transfer with no external balcony scene. ALW confirmed the producers would not get the insurance for it. Makes complete sense for America today, unfortunately.

"In New York they would have to make other adjustments to Evita. There would be no outdoor balcony scene for Don’t Cry for Me Argentina because of the risk of a shooting. “They wouldn’t even begin to get the insurance for it,” Lloyd Webber says. Nor would they make any money unless Rachel Zegler was in it for a year, “and I can’t see how she can be”. Perhaps he has been thinking his way round this because he mentions that Zegler wasn’t his first choice for Eva Perón. “I’d better not say who it was, but she dropped out. Then Rachel sent us a recording of herself doing the whole score, and we said: holy smoke!” - ALW

That’s a shame. But it’ll still be a huge hit and Rachel will still win the Tony.

I'm happy that ALW is realistic about it that it financially can't work if Rachel isn't locked in for a year.

Interesting that Rachel wowed them with a video she sent in. I think that’s also how she got West Side Story.

I hope it transfers; I’m still rooting for the Beaumont. They could do some added security by the reflecting pool or something. Even build some scaffolding with visibility only to a screened outdoor audience.

As for the actress ALW originally had in mind: didn’t Ariana Debose mention she was attached at some point?

In London they were able to make a profit in 12 weeks and on Broadway it would take over 52. Mmmmm. Are we sure it’s transferring? Being realistic about the financial prospects might mean it doesn’t come over unless they have a succession plan to Rachel. The ALW quotes seemed to be talking about hypothetical scenarios with the tentative language ‘would have’ not ‘is’.

I am increasingly convinced that ‘succession plans’ for big Broadway musical revivals with big stars don’t work. I know Hello, Dolly! and Sweeney Todd managed to pull it off for a while but I think they are the exceptions (with a significant drop in revenue despite the presence of name Broadway stars). People will pay to see Zegler and the production (even if there is no outdoor scene). It will be an event. Any successor won’t be an event even if the replacement is very talented.

And no, we’re not sure it is transferring - even though I still suspect it will. But if it doesn’t, I will not be shocked.

If it doesn’t I think we can well and truly point to this example to show how Broadway is suffering from the economics. However, I still pray and hope that this is an example of a show that people would pour money into just because, for the art etc.

It is a bit devastating that they couldn’t make the street Argentina work but I hope Jamie Lloyd has another trick or two up his sleeve to mitigate this. I still get chills thinking how the camera would show Rachel performing to a truly massive crowd on a summer day in beautiful London almost quite literally bringing to life the lyric “the best show in town was the crowd outside the casa rosada crying Eva person”.

The next line “but that’s all gone now” also has new meaning.

In any case, this is the cheapest way to put on a show. No sets. Virtually no costumes. It is simply a black box concert version. Literally and figuratively an underwear version. In principle, they could do the entire show on the sidewalk like ham4ham, albeit behind bulletproof glass, or in a tent in central park. My point is that this concept gives a lot of flexibility. Another option is in the front section of every cinema hall in the city. And yes, I am being serious. As long as Jamie Lloyd can film and project his stuff he will be happy. You can even screen it to multiple screens in the building at the same time. Have the cast move around from hall to hall. Have the audience walk to the foyer, the indoors glass balcony, where she sings "DCFMA" and create your own crowd. Maybe cheaper tickets for the descamisados who will watch the thing from the smaller halls/mostly through the screen and who are then being led to the foyer for DCFMA. And more expensive tickets for the main hall, where most of the show takes place. This way you have multiple halls at once, a new experience, a safe balcony, controlled crowds, a cheaper venue, and the separation between expensive tickets and cheaper tickets, making it accessible for everyone. Why would they hire an expensive Broadway theatre for this concert and videocam-stream anyway? Hiring a Broadway theatre to put on a show is substantially more expensive, often by a factor of 100 or more per week.

I now can see this playing at either the Lyric or the Broadway.

They can do the scene on either lobby 'balcony' with a crowd gathered below that would enter thru metal detectors shortly before the scene begins.

Hell, they could even sell a cheap "Descamisado" experience ticket to rake in a few extra bucks --- shirts optional

Again, this will not be performed outside due to safety reasons. They aren't building scaffolding outside, or anything that creates any kind of issues for pedestrians. If this transfers, they will want to make money this time (unlike Sunset Blvd), and that can only be achieved through Rachel signing for a year (something I sincerely doubt someone in demand as she is could do). Im glad he was realistic about that, too.

She can just sing from the stage, as most Evitas do, I imagine.
