Shockingly, she makes a lot of good points. Especially about paying big bucks to see old movies on stage. Couldn't agree with her more on that one.

Is Riedel gone for long, one hopes? Great stuff...

I agree with a lot of what she says too. I'm also very glad she gave some recognition to THE CORRESPONDENT. Lucky I got to see that one.

Sadly, The Correspondent completely missed my radar...

I could have done without the fat joke, but I did enjoy reading that more than any of Reidel's recent columns.

I agree about the fat joke, but it's so cool that she liked Fun Home! I think she does see a lot of New York theater. That's amazing because she spends most of her time in Los Angeles. I saw her in the audience of the performance of Lucky Guy I attended, and, more surprisingly, down at the Lortel recently for the black comedy Loot.

Offended by one fat joke? Never go see her live then, heh. The fact that there was only one was a show of restraint or some editing at the Post.

She usually goes off on Wicked and Kinky Boots when she does sets at the Beechman.

>I seriously doubt she pays for her theatre tickets<

You would be wrong.
Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

Celebrities are comped into shows far less often than one would think.

I hope Riedel got a one-way ticket to wherever he's gone.

I love Joan. Her Fashion Police show has me laughing from start to finish. Scathing, filthy!

I hate her fat jokes, and no I'm not interested in seeing her live. I was very surprised by how insightful the column was, dump Riedel and bring in Joan Rivers.

Saw her in Vegas a few years ago and she used language that would make Mamet blush. Filthy would be too kind to describe her act. She went off about everyone including those overweight. If you are too PC do not see her live.

I saw her once at an LCT3 production, she gets around!

Joan loves the theatre !! she's 80 years old and still WANTS to go see shows, that says a lot.
+ she is a Tony Nominee herself for Sally Marr...and her escorts (Best Lead Actress in a Play)
I would love to hear her reviews of Broadway shows!!

I once saw her literally snoring on and off through a play. Then later that night she tweeted about how much she loved it.

Snoring through Scandalous or Leap of Faith is potentially a better use of one's time...

Enjoyed both but neither a classic by any means. I have seen far worse

The sets for both were hideous - Leap Of Faith looks like they spent $ 3 on the tent set. Scandalous set would have been tolerable if you did not have to look at it for the entire performance.

Yeah, there's a difference between being "too PC" and disliking statements that make other people feel awful about themselves, specially since on her show (which I watch every week, I'll admit), she often makes a point to mock celebrities who either look overweight or don't conform to Hollywood standards of beauty. Either way, I do like her and her writing, if this is what she has to say about Broadway, then I say keep it coming.

For some reason, I don't mind her fat jokes at all. Maybe because she also tears herself to shreds in an hysterical way? I don't know, but out of all the comedians and comediennes, she makes me laugh the most.

Imagine Don Rickles starting now. After 1 set on stage, he would be banned forever.

He used to rank on Sinatra's mafia connections and Frank never said a word. Sinatra took it in the spirit it was intended. One of my favorites was when he said if you crossed Sinatra, you would be found hanging on a meathook in Cleveland.
