I like her, but I think this is not a cool thing to do. And I don't mind her being a born-again Christian or even talking about it, frankly. I'd like to feel if my fellow queens can be out with our sexuality, then Kristin should feel free to be out with her spirituality, no matter how odd it may seem to many.
But, jeez, sweetie...at least stick it out till your contract is up. Troupers don't do that.
I have no problem with Christian being out with her Kristeninanity, it's the fact that the woman who presents herself as "sweet" talks about how hard it is for her in showbiz because of that very reason. That's the thing. Leave the biz, if it's so damn, oh, sorry, dang hard to be who you are.
Honestly, I do not think the Kathie Lee comparisons are far off... as Christian ages, she will talk more and more about it and she'll get married and she'll present it as the perfect marriage and she'll have two perfect children Crass and Co-Diddy and she'll get a morning talk show and then her husand will have an affair with a stewardess.
ahh, master, but soon to be 36 year old blondes must strike while the iron is hot and the bubble role has raised the bubble for x-glinda. if she were to sit on the sidelines who's to say if the offers would still be there at the end of the run.

What a bummer!!! I am just thrilled that I got to see her back last Novenber when the show first opened. I tyruely hope her future remains bright. What a voice ( And as I have told my children I'd sell any of them in a minute for either of those women's voices!!)

Well, then, it's gonna have a downward trajectory like The Producers. Unless they get some NAMES that people have heard of.
On the other hand, that brings up the chance that Christian and Indiana will come back for a return engagement like Nathan and Matthew. I hope they bring the Ricola!!!!! LOL!! THAT MEANS I AM LAUGHING OUT LOUD AT SOMETHING I AM WRITING!

This is my first post on this site. I just have always found Ms. Chenoweth to be grating. When she was on Letterman (Nathan Lane was guest-hosting during Letterman's surgery), she felt the need to talk about having a master's degree not once, but twice. Her voice doesn't do it for me. It's too forward, too strident. She's very show-offy; her CD is full of "lookit what I can do!" kinds of vocal tricks. I'm just not impressed with her.
"Knock knock"
"Who's there?"
"Control freak--now you say 'control freak who?'"
having heard that they are not babies, x-glinda is perplexed. on one hand she still feels the need to drive someone out of somewhere, but on the other hand she feels an intense craving for key lime pie.

Again, I feel a lot of these comments directed at Kristin are stirring from jealousy/envy. As Ulla in the Producers sings: "If you got it, flaunt it." Not that I think Kristin is a showoff, but if she has an incredible vocal range, and comedic timing, why not show it off, if it doesn't take away from an otherwise good, clear, and focused performance.
I have read people bashing her on this board for the high note that she hits at the end of "Thank Goodness" claiming that she is a showoff, and other nonsense. It didn't take anything away from what she was doing. I actually thought it was a thrilling moment.
Furthermore, if she feels like being open about her faith and beliefs, that is fine too. Maybe her concerns about her religion and the business are legitimate to her. Who are we to chastize, or comment negatively on her concerns. Some people on this message board are just too unnecessarily nasty at times. And it is quite annoying.
Also, I don't think Kristin would be let out of her contract so easily, if it wasn't okay with the producers, or if she didn't contractually finish the amount of performances she was signed on for....You just can't decide to up and end your contract no matter who you are.
Just my 2 cents.

i agree with theBalladeer. i'm not obsessed with Kristin by any means, but she deserves the benefit of the doubt. if we can dish it out, we gotta be able to take it. which certainly is the case for the entire argument about her religious ideals. kristin is a talented performer, that some people just love to hate. this bashing certainly isn't profound, so if people wanna talk ****, let them.
She is leaving because she got a new sitcom and other projects. There's a clause in most equity contracts that allow her to do so. And I am also sure she is pretty sick of doing the show. Better she leave now then when she appears like a lifeless robot on that stage.(And to those of you who have not seen her in it; she is good in it.. but her understudy is just as good and it is a very easy role to put across. Don't sweat it out.

Wow, Kristin Chenoweth is leaving so early. She's been out so many times AND is taking a leave of absence for Candide. I would think that she would be in it a little more because of these absences. Maybe she got bored with the role??

I am much enjoying the comparisons with Mrs. Gifford. Namo, do you remember when Kathie Lee went on once a week for Carol Burnette in "Putting it Together"? She would happily warble "f--king," but refused to say a single "g--d--mn." And went on TV to explain how she revealed to Cassboy and Kooshball, or whatever their names are, how Mr. Sondheim allowed her to honor her beliefs thusly.
I think Chenoweth found the role of her early career in Glinda, but needs to move on after WICKED and play a grown-up woman. Bernadette played the curly-haired ingenue into her 50s, then make a late, if compelling, leap with Rose. At 35, Ms. Chenoweth might wisely make Glinda her swan song to all things cute. If she wishes to model her career on someone who learned how to blend sweet thang roles with more womanly ones, look no further than Ms. Julie Andrews. She followed up "Poppins" with "The Americanization of Emily," showed her tatas in one of her husband's films, and happily boinked everyone from James Garner to Paul Newman to Dudly Moore throughout her work. Say what you will about Miss Julie, she's famous for playing a nun, but she is nobody's idea of a professional virgin.
