Went yesterday and it was more powerful than I anticipated. The cast was fantastic and certain audience members were very loud and enthusiastic. I suspect it wasn’t their first time. The rest of the audience was probably only 1/2-2/3 full. Balcony looked empty and sides of the mezz were too. Sad it’s struggling.

Attended the show for the last time tonight. A few scenes were much more emotional (for the cast) than I’d seen previously but worked so beautifully. The way Susannah held onto Betsy’s legs in that last scene was heartbreaking. And each time I see it I’m convinced that while everyone in that cast is Tony Award worthy, my two favorite performances (besides Susannah Flood who must take home Leading Actress) are Irene Sofia Lucio and Kayla Davion. But everyone is so brilliant and the play is a masterpiece.

As great as Flood is, Leslie Manville is giving one of the most extraordinary performances I have ever seen. Liberation was in my top five for 2025 andI am just so sorry that more people haven’t gone to see it especially because everyone I know who has seen it has loved it.

LOLOL I feel like such an idiot, OF COURSE Manville should and will win. I don’t know what I was thinking.

I have to agree with the previous post on the 'more emotional for the cast' aspect. I found ACT ONE better than it's 2nd half IMHO. Not easy to follow where we are in the timeline but a SUPER Play!

There’s a few small moments that continue to stick with me. When Kayla puts on the heels and just says (I believe) “Got it”. It’s SUCH a powerful moment to me. When Margie says “I can, just for a moment…” at the end before that scene between her and Lizzie - it’s like a gut punch. But the one line that is the true sucker punch to my soul and left me breathless the first time I saw it last year is the very last line of act one. I always remember tears just flowing down my face when intermission started.

Very much agree with you on that last one, Jordan. I really did not like this play but the one moment that has stuck with me is specifically how Flood played that very last moment of act one. It’s one of the most honest moment of recognition I’ve ever seen onstage. It’s so simple, but there was this leap in my chest because I had completely forgotten that she wasn’t actually the playwright.

So glad I finally caught this today, the entire cast is pitch perfect. If I had to pick one favorite it would be Betsy Aidem, but everyone gets a chance to shine (especially in act 2)

I wish this production was being filmed, this is the kind of thing that should be preserved or livestreamed or something

Can someone refresh my memory and tell me what the last line of act one is?  I remember she’s cleaning up the room, and her future husband helps and then starts playing basketball.  I saw this once at the pells and once on Broadway, absolutely loved it, I hope it wins best Play.

I love what Lesley Manville does in Oedipus, but I wouldn’t say it’s a shoo in for an award.  I thought Laurie Metcalf gave this amazing diva performance in  Little Bear Ridge Road

Playbill has uploaded a scene in honor of Mother’s Day

It’s the climatic scene between Aidem and Flood.

Rewatching it and it should probably be the scene that wins the play the Tony.

I think Metcalf and Manville win but Aidem and Flood are brilliant as well.

So smart of them to upload that scene with Flood and Aidem now.

I personally think Flood deserves the win over Manville. Manville had that one memorable monologue but I don’t think it compares to what Flood did to anchor this entire show and the emotional climax here at the end in this scene.
