Although there are "auditions" for this most the cast is already set for the workshop primarily (many who have done a reading or two for the team).
I think they're actively working on it right now? yesterday, casey likes posted on his story an image of him in rehearsal with a binder with the warriors logo on it with LMM in the background. he then promptly deleted the story because I don't think the public is supposed to know yet. did anyone else see this?

Yes, they want to open it in the Fall at The Public. Incredibly exciting.

They want the Lunt-Fontanne for their Broadway run right after, but let's see what happens.
Do you think this will be his first musical he's written where he doesn't star?

He didn't star in Bring It On.
Of course not, since Jeff Whitty wrote it.
Perhaps he's the voice of one of the boroughs?
I love that idea and I can guess which one ;)

Why did he change the whole thing? I love the movie & could be a fantastic musical but I hate what he’s done to it. No thanks.

Because he (and Eisa Davis) wanted to, and when you write the biggest musical in a generation you get carte blanche to do what you want.

What exactly has he done besides gender swap most of the gangs? From what I recall of the movie and the concept album, the story is largely untouched?
Apparently Jeffrey Seller will be WARRIORS’ lead producer and it’ll probably cost at least $35 million to mount in New York.
I’m curious to see which celebrities will be added to the middle of the producing pack… there’s already a rumor that this is how Eminem will achieve his EGOT.

The story largely tracks, but there are some pretty significant changes regarding Cleon and Fox: In the movie, Fox is the one who sees Luther kill Cyrus, Cleon is attacked by the Riffs and you never see him again, and Fox is hit by the train at 96th St. In the concept album, Cleon is the one who sees Luther kill Cyrus, Cleon is captured but remains a part of the story until the end, and Fox is hit by the train at Union Square (much later in the story).
But most of these changes are just cleaning up some messiness in the movie that resulted from off-screen issues. The actor who played Fox was supposed to be the main character (which is why he's the one who witnesses Cyrus's murder), but his relationship with the director got so bad that he was fired midway through shooting the movie and they had to quickly come up with a way to kill off the character. When you watch the movie, you think Fox is the main character, and then he dies suddenly pretty early on, and then the focus switches to Swan as the main character, with hardly another word said about Fox. Long way of saying that the changes LLM and Davis were justified and improved the story significantly in my opinion.
