Jeffery Seller?"
Seller and Lin are apparently the lead producers.

If this isn't until Spring '27, what goes into the Lunt -Fontanne until then? Something with enough star power to recoup from a limited run?

They may feel that between the album and the workshops, they’ve already learned everything that they would have taken from a run at the Public or NYTW.
It’s a huge gamble to mount a show 2.5x as big as Hamilton. Especially with a director who is not a known quantity on Broadway and has never worked with a budget like that.
Lin will draw crowds for previews and the first couple of months, but ultimately the show will live or die based on the strength of the material and its ability to draw and move the masses.
Am I alone in thinking that the album kind of came and went?? Following trends of pop music is not my specialty so that could be a misguided observation.

People seem to be reporting that the show was already in perfect shape in its first workshop phase, and the production value is supposedly so huge and intense it makes DEATH BECOMES HER and THE LOST BOYS look minimalist. Lin may have topped himself, which is a near-impossible bar to clear.
Given it is the game-changer we’re all expecting, I do wonder if it provides the boon this sluggish theatre industry badly needs in the years to come.

It certainly has the ingredients of an event and I imagine investors will be falling over themselves to get in on it.

So we could potentially have this, Paddington and Evita all happening at the same time? My poor wallet

I'm assuming the production is too big for any of the Public's spaces so it was probably deemed unnecessary to do a downtown run. I always wondered what Hamilton would look like if it had done a regular out of town try out and not been stuck with the limitations of the Public's space.

The Newman is a deceptively large and well-equipped space that has housed larger technical productions than Hamilton. I doubt it limited Hamilton in any real way- its design makes perfect sense for the production and material.

God this sounds like the seventh level of hell.

I think I agree. Except in Act 2 when the show sort of drags and I wish we could break up all the brown. But it totally works for the show.

I'd be slightly more enthused about this if I knew someone other than Tommy Kail was directing. His work as of late has been so uninspired (don't get me started on Sweeney). It would be nice to see Lin collaborate with other artists as I think he could do with a bit of a foil that challenges him to push his work in different directions.
Everything from In the Heights to Hamilton to his work with Disney is operating at the top of his game, but all of it could live in the same show. The Warriors album was no different. He's excellent at what he does. But it's starting to feel been there done that. To ME.

I agree in re: Kail, but he wasn't attached to the recent workshop nor was he named in that Broadway Journal piece. Jenny Koons is the attached director.

I'll believe Kail isn't involved in this for Broadway when I see the official announcement. Koons' resume seems more geared toward experiential events rather than ever having directed a full musical by herself at this level, so color me skeptical.

I'm not too concerned about the director situation.
Jenny Koons has been shaping the piece with LMM and Davis and just directed a big opera, SLEEPERS AWAKE, at Opera Philadelphia, which is not far off from a Broadway musical. I'm assuming Andy Blankenbuehler will have a greater role in "shadow-directing" (which won't please his haters), since the choreo could be a massive part of this. Lin himself could also help with the staging, now that he's Mr. Movie Director.
If the budget is actually north of $30 mil, it would easily be the biggest-budget musical in history for a person making their Broadway-directing-debut, currently held by DBH/Gattelli.

I'll be on the lookout for a "Creative Consultant" credit on the opening night title page.
