I never intended to imply that you are a dummy. I too got a 5 on my AP American History. And when I was sixteen, I too thought I knew everything about the political process, but that was only academic knowledge and AP American History did not cover foreign policy very well. I just feel that if you have an agreement to speak politics with another member, do it on another thread or do it privately with your emails. I'm sure im not the first person who has come to this thread and seen the long political posts and were like "why here?". I am very involved in the election and volunteer constantly, I have my sites where I talk politics all the time. This is about Rent just remember that. Another moderator of this thread would have stopped your interchanges about politics and suggested you make your own thread. I know cos i ve seen politics pop up on many message boards where this has happened. I don't mean to be rude or put you down that wasn't my point. But life changes as we get older alot of things changes and you have to admit you are a teenager, i thought i could conquer the world at that age. I learned alot about politics in college with much more freedom to engage in intellectual conversations about politics which I'm sure you will to.

Firstly, I never took it as an insult, it just doesn't belong on this thread regardless if two people have decided they want to discuss politics on this thread, many other threads on other message boards to discuss that, and as far as your riled up comment is just about as insulting and the newbie comment is just as insulting, and by the way you are crazy if you think im going to read 22 pages of posts in their entirely, i browsed through them all and posted and its my right too. People are way too sensitive on these boards and if you don't use the exact proper PC way to express your opinion then you get vilified. Which is a total shame. I'm a nice guy and I want to talk about the Rent movie. Updated On: 10/30/04 at 07:57 PM

"as your riled up comment is just about as insulting and the newbie comment is just as insulting"
Did I say the newbie comment? (In all seriousness, I can't remeber what it refers to, sorry if this again makes me look even more dumb)
And, to ditto Evelyn, yes, well said about " People are way too sensitive on these boards and if you don't use the exact proper PC way to express your opinion then you get vilified. Which is a total shame." and "But life changes as we get older alot of things changes and you have to admit you are a teenager" (I know it's "OMG did she of all people that?!?"). I understand that I seem completely out of place, ignorant, stupid, foolish, etc. I wans't the one who said "Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Talk to me about politics!". I don't know anything about life and I hope that I haven't already completed a good portion of it, so there is much to learn and grow from.
I'll finish my train of thought later as I hafta go eat dinner.
I'm completely bewildered by the last couple of posts. Did I miss something? Hopefully Whiteboy doesn't miss my on-topic comments about Oscars!

Whoa, you are not in charge of this thread the moderators of this site are and you just told me that i get riled up when you told someone to "Shut Up", now that is incredibly insulting, where do you get off? Practice what you preach and i do think maybe you are getting to big for your britches here.

Yeah..I'm probably the one everyone'd blame for posts that are off topic, but I'd kinda like to see the thread veer back into an on topic...topic...
Maybe we can create a new thread for a political discussion.
-->Actually, how 'bout this, after I get back from dinner I'll create a new board for a political discussion. I'll try and make a catchy name so all know that it's the new thread in relation to this one...
So for Anthony, if you see this before I get back or etc, watch for that new topic in about 1.5 hours or so (depending on how long it takes me to come back.)
Bye for now...
Ajayspak, I'm sorry, but who are you talking to right now? I'm having trouble keeping up here.
Anyway, back on topic (which should make people happy lol) what's it like to be eaten by a plant every night, Anthony? It always seemed like fun to me.
StateOfJade, there is a separate thread for asking Whiteboy questions about Little Shop. Hint: It doesn't have "Rent" in the title.
Take a chill pill, Eve. It's not hurting anyone.
::takes Jade by the arm and leads her over to the non-warzone thread::
No thanks, Michelle, I'm good here.
Thankyou, NotThatGirl. Look after he well and make sure that she doesn't stray back.
::lets go of Jade::
Sorry...I won't help you cross the wrong street.
Hey, you're the one who was talking down to me because I'm younger than you...why don't we both be big people and just drop it? I know for a fact I'm not the only one thinking you're trying to be too dominating.
soo umm...yeah, how bout those Oscar prospects eh?
don't make me dig up my old post. in short all i said was the flashier roles (namely, mark, roger and mimi - mark to a lesser extent - no offense, anthony, it's my fave character and all, but...) will likely get recognized, and i said something about goblet of fire (which i am SO excited about).
But Mark may still have the honor of singing the opening lines for Rent, Tango: Maureen, La Vie Boheme and Watch You Own. Those may be the flashiest in the film for all we know.

While I think that they can be better pulled off onstage, I will be highly disappointed if La Vie Boheme and What You Own are cut out from the film version.

broadwayguy2 is hoping to see a showstopping "Out Tonight" in the film version. It is one of my favorite songs in the show when performed by the right actress.
La Vie Boheme is a definite keeper. What You Own was relegated to the credits of the Chbosky screenplay, so I'm not sure if it's still there.
Another Day is the one to which I most look forward.

I have yet to see a showstopping Out Tonight. Daphne on the OBCR did more for me than any of the actresses I've seen do it live. It's my favorite song though.
I personally don't think it's possible to do a show-stopping OT on screen. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong once I see the movie.
You can't really have a show-stopping number in a movie, can you? Cuz they're not gonna stop, regardless of how loud the audience applauds...which I doubt they'd do in a movie theatre. Just a random thought.
Well obviously the audience in the theatre isn't going to start hollering...'show-stopping' was a bad word choice.
NotThatGirl, but isn't it hilarious when at the end of a movie playing outside of a major city, people stand up and applaud?
During Seabiscuit, I actually had the experience of watching several people block my view by standing up and applauding during the horse race! But that was okay since the movie was so dreadful.
EDIT: For some reason, I always imagine "Out Tonight" playing out in a fashion similar to "I Can't Do It Alone" in Chicago.
