I just received an automated call from Roundabout letting me know that Laura will not be in She Loves Me on June 22nd at 8 PM... aka when I have tickets to see the show. What is up with this? can I get a refund? if this was previously scheduled I wish they had let me know that when I purchased tickets.

If she's above the title, you can get a refund.
Call Roundabout and they should be able to change your date. Happened to me last year when Chenoweth had a last-minute absence for Tony rehearsal. They changed my tickets no sweat. Couldn't have been nicer about it.
Bummer, but you have to admit, it would have been kind of weird to call you if you didn't have tickets!
They did this back in April when she was out as well. I would assume you can probably do a date switch at least. Otherwise there is no point to calling and letting people know if a certain performer is out.

Oh man..... I've got tickets for the matinee, and I didn't get an email (yet) so I'm assuming she's on for the 2pm show. maybe you can change to that one?
Here's more dates from Roundabout website:
Note: Laura Benanti will NOT be in the following performances: Wednesday, June 15 at 2pm; Wednesday, June 22 at 8pm; Saturday, July 2 at 2pm; Wednesday, July 6 at 2pm.
I've checked the site and it NOW says (but not when i bought the tix in April after they announced the extension) Edit: what Canadian has posted above me lol
I have tickets to see Hamilton for that matinee but I recently sold my tickets to see Waitress the night before so I will call them and see if they can switch to Tuesday night.
mama, that would be kind of weird if they had called me if i hadn't had tickets!

yeah - that's the dilemma when you come in from out of town and totally book your days up with shows... not a lot of wiggle room.
WHEW! called them and the man couldn't have been more wonderful. it's only a few rows back from where I was, so it's not a huge deal. Now I have that evening free, I might enter the Hamilton lottery. I've been thinking for seeing Color Purple perhaps that night, has that been at TKTS at all? (i know grosses dropped after Hudson left but I haven't kept my eye on it)
This wouldn't happen if she were Carol Channing.

Just got my automated message for 7/2. Oh well, who's her understudy?

I've actually gotten into the recording lately, I've listened to it I think 8 times this week lol...but I want to see Cynthia!

Laura Shoop. She's excellent.

I hear you. I replaced AP with Color Purple - seeing it on the 24th. I gave up Shuffle Along for Bright Star as I figured (rightly so) that it wouldn't be around for long and hopefully Shuffle Along is still there when I go back in November. I wonder how long Cynthia will be with CP - do we know her dates?
In all seriousness, I think it's nice that the theater is using the automated messages. Nice change from the "old days" of showing up and being surprised and disappointed.
I'm also glad to read how quickly and easily you were able to get a satisfactory result. Very convenient!

Color Purple has been at TKTS, I got 50% off Saturday night. Don't know what the situation is after the Tonys though.

Awesome! Good to hear. Saw Benanti on my last swing through NYC, so this will be a nice switch up.
thanks for being glad, John Adams! your post about Carol Channing (and having no respect) made me laugh out loud.
aaaaaa15, that gives me hope. A Wednesday night hopefully should maybe be pretty slow. I was looking at the tickets (for Tuesday) last week, and there were good seats in the orchestra for $89 via playbill's discount (99 after that silly telecharge fee) but the main draw for me is the cast and not the show. Fingers crossed!

The Color Purple has consistently been on TKTS this week (all 4 shows so far including tonight's) at 50% off, but keep in mind Cynthia is out this week so this is not totally reliable. The Tony boost will probably (and hopefully) be seen next week.
Gypsy101 - I'm glad you got a replacement ticket. I wouldn't want to go to NYC for shows and see understudys, however great they might turn out to be. Specially with Laura, who is such a wonder. As for your question - YES, you should totally see The Color Purple instead if that slot's still open for you. It's honestly a great great production.
No shade intended, but goodness it seems like she has missed so many performances.

This is disappointing, especially since I got really good seats right after the extension was announced! Should I change to my day of arrival in NYC to a not-as-good seat (and hope their are no air delays) just to see Laura Benanti, or just go and see it with the understudy?
Is it possible to get a refund? Was thinking maybe I can see Color Purple instead...
