I saw the matinee on Saturday.
Rockwell was a serviceable Elle, but overall, she was pretty bland. She's got a terrific voice, but she tended to trail off in volume to the point where you couldn't hear her, and she used one generic facial expression the entire show. Though I thought she was much better in the second act than in the first, there was nothing to write home about in her performance.
I thought all three of the Delta Nu understudies, on the other hand, were absolutely perfect (particularly Lindsay Nicole Chambers, who stole the show as Serena.)
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
