i saw the 2 pm matinee today....so many understudies!
Kate as Elle Barry as Emmett LNC as Serena Emily as Margot Tiffany Engen as Pilar Jody as Aaron Dani Spieler was the DA
Kate was ON POINT today. she had one tiny stutter of a line, but otherwise she was amazing. she hit all the notes she was supposed too. i was definitely not disappointed...i do want to go back and try to see bailey though
I also saw the matinee. Maybe I was expecting too much of her and her voice (she was fierce on Andrew's Blog) but she kind of let me down. Her voice was prety but not that strong. Maybe she's not used to going on this often? She is really cute and kind of just falls into Elle sometimes very naturally but I think she comes off a bit snobby and bitchy. Not fun, sarcastic Haven bitchy. Like legit, kinda bratty.
Barry is adorable and reminded me of Christian Borle a bit. His singing voice was also kinda weak but his speaking voice is annoying. Holy mother. He sounds like he's playing Boq in Wicked. I've seen every Emmett understudy and while sweet, was my least favorite.
Jody...um, wake up, please? Can you maybe not just read through the lines and put some thought or feeling into them, just once?
Emily was cute. Something off about her but the other 2 Delta Nus were something fierce. I've seen Tiffany and LNC in a few other roles and they never disappoint but in a combo? COULD NOT BE ANY CUTER. They were the only big standouts today.
Also, I don't want to be mean, but who is casting that show? Most of the replacements with a few exceptions are either bland or offensively bad. It's really disappointing.
Rockwell was a serviceable Elle, but overall, she was pretty bland. She's got a terrific voice, but she tended to trail off in volume to the point where you couldn't hear her, and she used one generic facial expression the entire show. Though I thought she was much better in the second act than in the first, there was nothing to write home about in her performance.
I thought all three of the Delta Nu understudies, on the other hand, were absolutely perfect (particularly Lindsay Nicole Chambers, who stole the show as Serena.)
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
I was at tonight's show. Understudies were the same as they've been all weekend.
Tonight's show was TIGHT. One of the better LB shows I've seen. Lots of energy, a VERY full house (finally), and a great audience.
I agree with those who say that Rockwell's Elle is just "serviceable." She has a good voice, but is lacking in charisma. She can't carry the show the way Bailey or others have.
I enjoyed Barry's Emmett a lot actually. His voice was kind of distinctive, but I liked his characterization.
Emily Padgett is a fantastic Margot, and Lindsay Nicole Chambers is a lovely Serena, even though they give her this horrible orange wig to wear.
Orfeh is still running away with the proceedings, though. My god, that woman is amazing.
Autumn got her foot stuck under the table during the courtroom scene and was cracking up onstage about it. Rufus appeared onstage at the end of the show before his curtain call during the graduation scene. It was cute- you saw his head and part of his body come out, before a stagehand or someone scooped him up.
All in all a fun show, but I hope Bailey is back next week.
I was there with adamgreer and I thought that Kate was AMAZING. The 3 Delta Nu's had very good chemistry. I agree about Lindsay Nicole's hideous orange wig.
This was the best show that I saw in the 5 times I have seen it(and I saw LBB's last show)
Autumn got her foot stuck in between the railings of the bench in front of her where she had her foot propped in between them. I saw her laughing and Cara laughing then Autumn pointing to her foot that was stuck. It took her a good minute to get it out. Poor Cara had to hide her face...LOL. I asked Autumn about it at SD and she said I was hoping nobody saw that. Then she said she thought she got herself into trouble since she couldn't get it out.
When the PMS girls arrive at the courtroom Serena had on a blue dress with a gold coat. I always thought her coat was a shiny blue to go with the other girls' red and white shiny coats?
Don't believe everything that you hear! Only the peeps involved know the truth!
Oh I always thought that Serena's jacket matched Margot and Pilar's. I guess I'm watching Kate Shindle and Cara Massey too much to have taken notice. The other thing I took notice to(well adamgreer pointed out to me) is that Nicolette is the one that opens the door for Warner to make his appearance.

Wow. It's not really a huge deal. She probably isn't prepared yet. They are probably rehearsing her but maybe she is not fully ready to go on yet and the other understudies are? That's just the obvious guess. Or maybe she's happy in her regular track right now?
I saw Legally Blonde this weekend with all of the understudies. I'd only seen the show once before and only saw it again because the friend I was with wanted to see it. (Okay, I kinda wanted to see the dogs again after reading that they were rescue dogs.) Both of us thought the show was a lot of fun. I didn't think any of the replacements were breakout stars, but they gave me an entertaining evening.
Oh yeah, that's right, no show tonight. I hope she's not too sick. If so, maybe Autumn will get her chance to go on....unless she's still sick. Uh! Sickness!
does anyone know if autumn will be playing elle before the show closes??? i've only seen bailey...and i heard kate rockwell played elle the other week...if anyone saw her let me know how she did-she's my girl! so glad she got a chance to rock that role.
