The "barricade boys" have been tweeting that they are back this week for three weeks and they said the Pinewood set looks incredible. Some tweets from yesterday:
Killian Donnelly @killiandonnelly 14 hr day but ABC is rocking.
Killian Donnelly @killiandonnelly We filmed the first take EVER to be filmed on the new Lord Attenborough Stage at Pinewood today.
George Blagden @gblagden Long day but got a lot done. Can't wait to see it, let's hurry up and finish this thing! #lesmis
Samantha barks @SamanthaBarks Great day on set! Students rocked the ABC cafe... I mostly watched
Alistair Brammer @alistairbrammer Good day back at work. Set is epic people. Literally built houses indoors. Amazing
Four sketches from the beginning of the movie by a "convict" extra - hit "previous" on the below link to see all of them. Sketch 4 is the best - it has a great description of what sounds like the beginning of the movie and matches the photo of Jackman on the official Facebook page. This could be considered spoilery since it describes what they were doing.
I've never seen a musical film so tight lipped about which orchestration will be utilized. And they've been so far successful at preventing any leaks.
I, as well as anyone else who cares about orchestration, are dying over here. I will be freaked out if they decide to use the current anniversary dreck which is not only dramatically reduced and thin but lacks passion and is terribly cliche.
We'll see.

I'm guessing they will use something closer to the original orchestrations. One thing for sure whatever they do use will blow any other recording of Les Mis. Orchestras used in film music are way bigger than those used for the stage so whatever they do it will definitely be expanded.
I don't know if this has been posted (I did a quick check two pages back and didn't see anything), but here's a snippet of Hathaway's rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream." I like it. The rawness in her voice gives it a heartbreaking feel. Also, I guess Cosette is a blonde. Someone posted a pic a page or so back and she looked like a brunette, but here Young Cosette and Amanda Siefried are clearly blonde. From Cinemacon

I swore I wouldn't peak at spoilers but I can'r resist!! Would you be able to successfully avoid your kid's wedding, graduation, anniversary, first born, NO! LOL.
I'm exaggerating, obviously, but let me just say that I am beyond grateful, pleased, and excited after having seen that teaser trailer. Last night I saw the video of Jackman on the indoor film set and I *died* many times over.
In a good way!
I am not exaggerating this time when I say that film set is EXACTLY how I envisioned a film set for this musical should look like. I know it isn't the entire set and probably makes a few, several second on-screen appearances but I LOVE that one for essentially being a shout out to John Napier's original set design, which heavily featured the aesthetic seen in that film set.
"I Dreamed a Dream" sounds wonderful and that teeny snippet is indeed using mostly John's work. I did not hear any cheesy Susan Boyle horns or frilly woodwinds in moments when Fantine is singing of how she's up sh*t creek without a paddle, so there is within me, a new found hope that Cameron still has *snapped out of it* and has come to his senses.
No problem at all with the placement of "I Dreamed a Dream" in this film. I see no reason for why it HAS to be where it traditionally is. Nothing is hurt by moving it. It's a harmless change that could end up proving beneficial. As long as it's effective. My only question is does this mean Fantine's arrest will also be moved?

I'm thinking they didn't move the song, they only moved the part where Fantine sells her hair so it happens before or during IDAD (with the song playing over the scenes of her getting her hair cut). Anne doesn't look at all like a whore in the brief clips of her singing so it doesn't appear LL has happened yet. Then when they do LL they'll just drop the part where she sells her hair because that's already happened.
I hope they don't play it over her getting her hair cut. I'd like to just see her sing it alone and to herself. Maybe while roaming the dark streets of Paris.
Side note: DAMNIT WHY DO I KEEP WATCHING THESE THINGS. I hate spoilers. I mean, I know the plot, but I'd rather be happily surprised all at once by great movie in December than by 20 seconds clips every other day until then. But I can't stop clicking these links. It's a disease.
