Does she have no agency anymore? Who is exploiting her like this...?
The whole thing reeks.

Yes, I know who the chief suspect is, but haven't really followed closely enough to judge. Strange that a supposed champion of archival scores would participate in this atrocity.
Hardly a coincidence that Feinstein is also a part of this.
Is he her legal guardian or something?
Just listened to Liza's track and it's.. bad. Generic house beats and every so often you get Liza's "vocals"- which are two clips of her saying "kids, wait till you hear this!" and "all eyes on me" that sound like they were recorded over the phone. It's a completely thoughtless, weightless, soulless thing.

He is the worst.

Agreed.
I will stick to the "Results" album. I still listen to it. I will listen to "Don't Drop Bombs" over this new track any day.
It’s awful. Just awful. I will give Mr. MF some leeway. Because I think Liza would’ve long been in a home if it wasn’t for him. He really does seem to take care of her. And maybe this was just something fun for her.

I have always felt the opposte. Just from seeing him and them together, he seems really possessive in a bit of a creepy kind of way. I just always felt he was keeping her from being more publicly visible and active. JMO

Well, he trots her out for many of his appearances . You might be right. Who knows. It is creepy. He is creepy.

I've been trying to find a clip of Feinstein on a PBS documentary where he's traveling the country looking for musical artifacts. It was kind of a boring special, but I howled with laughter at one scene where Feinstein and his husband were doing arm curls to show off their biceps.
The same app that Liza and Lorna signed away Judy’s voice to. Ugh.
I’d rather listen to drag queen impressions than AI generated slop.
I think it thinks it's being The Pet Shop Boys' Absolutely Fabulous. It misses in every possible way. Atrocious.

It made me go back to her earlier work to get the taste out of my ears so it wasn't a total waste.
That’s disgusting. It sounds like a music project a (gay) 6th grader would come up with, thinking he created a masterpiece.
I genuinely can't wait until the technology reaches a stage that we will be a able to hear Judy Garland perform every Broadway musical (think Rose, many of the ladies in Follies, even weird things like Sunday I'd be interested to hear her sing both leads). We will also have Bernadette singing Sweeney etc.
It's a scary future but there will be some good things to come from AI, at least for me.

While I understand the basic appeal of this, I personally find it revolting. You won't be hearing Judy Garland sing "Rose's Turn" or Bernadette Peters sing "A Little Priest", you'll be hearing a soulless machine's algorithmic guesswork. It is impossible for AI to capture the heartbreak and anger Judy's "Rose's Turn" would have had in spades. Bernadette's stunning acting and vocal choices that would no doubt have informed her Lovett won't be present in a faked recording.
The tech industry's goal to remove artists from art makes me want to hurl.
No idea why folks are getting in a twist over this as it’s just old dialogue sound bites of Liza over a generic electronic dance track - she’s not singing a single note. She’s being honest with her claiming her voice is hers but the music track is Ai. Any idiot can clearly hear these are rehashed old sound bites of her talking.

Nobody on this thread seems to have any problem with understanding what the track is. And really, you have no idea why folks would take issue with Minnelli being used to endorse AI generated music? Really? No idea?

I disagree with the first sentence quoted, but completely agree with the last.
There's absolutely no doubt in my mind that there will be a time when the technology is sophisticated enough to realistically mimic all the human characteristics (including emotion) that make us human - to a point that unless specifically identified as AI, a human will not know the difference between us and machine. The "last frontier" will be mimicking a believable version of a physical presence in a shared space.
Just as all our technology has evolved to the level we take for granted today, so will AI evolve. A big difference is that AI will teach itself how to accomplish the goal, instead of requiring human intelligence to develop the technology for the machine.
What "makes me want to hurl." is the pace regarding how anxious humans are to adopt and incorporate AI without considering the consequences/impacts of relinquishing our human intelligence and creativity to machines will have on future generations.
In our current generation, we've all but lost any appreciation for human craftsmanship to the manufacturing industry. Likewise, the same will happen re: intelligence and creativity when future generations grow up in the acceptance that AI is "normal", and the tech has advanced itself so far that future humans won't see or appreciate that there is any difference between the two.

Nobody is holding up this track as a masterpiece. It’s fun for what it is. Go listen to what Ben Affleck said about AI as it relates to writers.

I also took note re: what Affleck feels is the most common relationship humans currently have with AI.
IMO, if anyone wants to provide a continuous supply of data that AI can use to learn about expressing human emotion, adopt a bot as your friend. (begin at time stamp 14:36)
