It's just so, so ugly to see what is actually racialised language in this thread ("Why should she apologise to a WHITE woman") - especially whenPatti has NEVER once used racialised language in her life despite the claim by these 500 nobodies. I can really hear the hatred and prejudice in the posts trying to inflame this race war. Audra is better than this. Patti is better than this. I don't know if Kecia is better than this given she did essentially start this race war unfairly. This is chaos.

Chaos is your ability to blame a “race war” on a Black woman who merely spoke up for herself and her company. The Roommateis not the only play that’s shared a wall with HK. But it seems the only show to have a noise complaint - to our knowledge.

Patti gets to complain to the Shuberts, call Kecia a bitch and tell Audra “she should know better.” But Kecia speaking on social media is the beginning of the race war? This is theinstitutionalized white privilege people are complaining about, the mere idea that Patti isn’t at fault. Only if Kecia had stayed in her place as a woman of lower status and been quiet, but Patti doesn’t have to. That system of thought is unspoken, but always expected and people are calling the BS out - rightfully so.

Gaslighting. The go to white behavior on this thread.

How is it gaslighting when you literally won’t stop posting the same word salad over and over? It’s literally documented here. It’s a fact. Stop throwing around words like gaslighting when you clearly don’t even understand what it means.

*waits for some offensive response using wild chitlin circuit / slavery referencesin some lame attempt to prove a futile point*
"

I know what gaslighting is. It’s what many of you in this thread have tried to do for past 48 hours. You discredit racism. You make it Kecias problem to fix this. You blame Audra. You say things like Kecia started this. Kecia didn’t go to the Shuberts. Patti did. Kecia didn’t call Patti a bitch in the New Yorker. Patti did. If Kecia is a bitch, Patti is a racist.

See how you brought up slavery? That’s what tragic white people do.

I wonder if the letter could backfire and then the 500 individuals who signed it quickly regret it...

There is no racism against white people. Because the term racism denotes a power differential. White people ALWAYS have the power. Maybe that will change one day. But right now, prejudice is the correct term.

I am assuming by everything you have ever written you are a white person. How f'ing dare you to make any declaration on what is or isn't racism. That is not up to a white person to define. If Ms. Lewis says Patti was being racially microaggressive, then Patti was being racially microaggressive. Black people know things YOU DO NOT KNOW!!!!! Your history is not theirs. Your perspective is not theirs. So just shut up and listen!!!!
"

I am as black as can be. And I am telling you that you are completely full of it. You do not know any of these people. Ms Lewis could be the devil personified for all you know. And stop telling people to shut up and listen. That will never do anyone any good. Conversation and back and forth in a inteligent manner are key. Coming here and acting like Monique yelling at Oprahis ugly and will not do anyone any good. Take your hands off your hips and drop the attitude.
"

Honey, it’s giving self hatred on display. I hope you get all the white applause and likes you desire.

Back to my question about how you magically know everyone’s race.

I am not white.

See how you make everything about racism and speak in platitudes that don’t mean anything? That’s what tragic Black people do.

That still might not be good enough. According to this thread, even if she doesn't say anything, "we all know Patti and know exactly what was meant" when she doesn't say anything. (And apparently it's disrespectful!)

I'm inclined to be more forgiving of Patti but let's not kid ourselves here. Patti's lack of comment and subsequent deflection was extremely pointed and deliberate. It was like Aretha Franklin being asked about Taylor Swift and responding with, "Great gowns, beautiful gowns." Both are instances of somebody not wanting to go on the record with what they really think about another person.

I'm thinking back to the Aziz Ansari situation where he was accused of sexual misconduct by a woman for not doing a good job at reading her body language, noting when she felt pressured, or even, as her interview pointed out, giving her the type of wine she preferred.  After he was vilified for several days, that situation took a turn as this situation was seen as an overreach of the #MeToo movement.

As politics have shown us, a silent majority of Americans are not fans of cancel culture, and I'm sure there are a lot of voices right now that are not sharing their thoughts on this situation.  As this board has shown, those who have been vocal in saying Patti's actions are not racist/race-based and/or that Kecia should not have posted her video to begin with, are being decried as racist.  If prominent people out there feel this way, you might notice they're not trying to insert themselves in this situation.

If I had a nickel for every time a Broadway Patti has driven traffic to the BroadwayWorld Forum, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Patti comes across as quite sincere and sympathetic to me. I hope there can be a PR stunt with Audra, Patti and Kecia meeting somewhere or doing something at the Tonys or something to bring everyone back together and show some forgiveness/moving on.

Can they get Patti to also read "Best Actress in a Musical"? Feels like she would be giving the Gypsy torch to Audra or having a moment with Nicole on Sunset. Either way it'll be magical!
